A little more progress. With the frame now shortened, I had to soak the diff rear end U bolts in PB Blaster to get them to break free. Removed the rear end and front of trailing arms...now to break the springs free from the trailing arms....and then the frame and trailing arms are off to the SANDBLASTER!

I've got to re-build/convert the rear diff to 5 lug axels and I do have a Glock kit ready to go....so it may be that OverKill gets the rear disc kit before Lil' Red!

Gonna be just fine. It's all about wire speed and the correct amps...practice practice practice. I will get this melting metal stuff, the Miller 180 is going to play a big part...very nice machine!

Frame is completely stripped ready for the sandblaster. Just ordered ECE 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs for the 71' front that I found in Colorado Springs...which will bolt up nicely to the sandblasted frame!

Sounds like that welder is going to get a lot of use!

Can't wait to see that frame all painted and bolted back together!! Keep up the good work!

Sandblasting the frame, drop spindles, AND lowering springs??????

Now that's just overkill! :haha:

Yeah yeah yeah....and it will continue......I am talking with some one about a very nice 383 and a Tremec 5 speed, which I know will fit nicely into the OverKill guide lines! LOL! Waiting on my ECE stuff to arrive!!!

I like my 383 in my CST....it's pretty mild but it has nice torque...kinda like a big block only different. :)

Cool Larry!!! I have had a 383 in two of my other trucks and very much liked them. I built the first one back when I lived in CA.

So with help from the big brown truck, ECE came though again! Arriving yesterday was some beautiful 2.5" drop spindles, 2" drop front springs and new control arm upper and lower bump stops. All new MOOG ball joints are already here and ready to go. Final paint on the front end parts and assembly to follow. Got's to order those drilled and slotted rotors soon.
Another piece of the puzzle for OverKill!

X-Member is in Rust Bullet paint as it is shown, final "color" coat coming soon.

Ohhhhh Yeah!!!!

Made an appointment for the frame to go to the sandblasters this coming Tues the 18th. Then for some color to the frame!!! And start the re-assembly!!! How the heck does Chip do all this in one week???? Unlimited $ and unlimited help...I guess???

Got my front crossmember back and A arms and all the goodies from the "color" man. I asked him to do up something wild on the silvery black tones. Here's what he came up with....asked him what color it was..he told me..."Blackened Silver Train Twice Twisted Gun Metal Gray, (what a name..he's soo full of sheet) specially mixed for OverKill"... I said OK. I like it! Photographing this color is very difficult to show the color as it actually is.

The purpleish color on the lower pic is the reflection of my Burgandy CO Avs tee shirt,....I think??? lol!

Can't wait to get the frame back from sandblasting and get it all colored up in this stuff!

Thanks Frizzle...should ride very nice! Frame went to sandblasters yesterday, Tuesday 9-18-07!!!

I know my approach to doing a frame off is a little different than others, most do the black frame... I like to do things just slightly "off the norm"....so my frame will be this Blackened Silver Train and the components will be Chevy orange...not too much orange...but just a select few items...springs, disc calipers, tie rods, sway bars. My little OverKill touch. Here is a glimpse of what the two colors look like together:

Pressed in new MOOG ball joints this morning.

LOL! Atomic Glock at it again!!!!!

Blackened Silver Train...was mixed up for me by a crazy painter buddy of mine...Probably smoked way to much hash oil in the 70's! But it does look sweet...have to admit.

71' Disc Front as it looked when I found it...and then...all clean and new.
Upper and Lower A arms bolted back the the crossmember.....Now gimme back my frame Mr. Sandblaster!!! LOL!
