Times are a changing. I've decided to change direction with the build.
I'm getting married next year and would really like to drive the truck that day. The plan I Had would have been sweet but I need something straight forward.

So I've scrapped my frame and bought a donor silverado I'm now swapping the body onto. I know the track width is wider but that's going with what I want.

So far I have the donor truck and parting out what I don't need. Bought it for $600

Ive already made my money back and am now in the middle of swapping in my 6.0L.

This should hopefully go a lot fast and cheaper as in swapping the full truck harness over as well. Gonna be a lot of wiring but I got my brother for that.

Hope this still catches people's eyes

It's a v6 and the motor is blown. Had just enough life to get on and off the trailer and into my driveway. Had to push it into the garage. Dropped all the fluids and half the sump was gas and the overflow was black.

Truck only has 205xxx kms on it so what I need is lowish k's. I already have everything to swap my 6.0 in with, I just need a flex plate, motor mounts and some fuel line adapter fittings. Working on the motor swap first then swapping the body and electrical after.

Congrats on the engagement. It's a shame you couldn't finish off the previous incarnation of your truck but this plan looks very promising and the time frame sounds achievable.
I recently put a Supra clip under my truck, your thread reinforced my interest in using it as a donor IFS. So thanks, maybe. I haven't driven it yet...

Wow happy I was able to encourage someone to give it a try. From what I did it seamed to work really well and the sway bar lined up with the chassis perfectly.

Once I get a bigger house I will give it another try, chocked it up as a learning experience.

I'll have an update after the weekend as I'm hoping to sell the bed finally and get the old motor out. If I get the mounts and flex plate I need there's a chance I'll get the big motor in... fingers crossed

After removing I discovered a brand new fuel pump and brand new rear calipers!

Does anyone know of that pump setup will swap into my blazer gas tank I picked up to relocate the tank to between the frame at the back??
I'll post pics of both, but I think I read somewhere that they will.

And another fun thing I found out last week is my vw wagon would make an awesome pit car! I got 2 full sets of tires in the back with room to spare! I bet I could get 3 sets in there if I planned it right.

Emissions scandle or not, the wagon has proven its self as a great commuter/parts hauler. I've had full IRS and IFS in the back no issues as well.

I want to put the blazer tank between the frame rails behind the rear once I do the 4 link.

I think it should work, depth of tanks might be different.

Well I'm almost done the boring parts. I've got the cab stripped down enuf to get the wiring I need out. Working on getting everything else attaching the cab to the frame disconnect.

Luckily my brother is willing and capable of repurposing all the wiring into the 51'

Once the cab is fully disconnected I will just leave the v6 and trans in place to mock the cab on.

Slow moving but still moving... even have the fiancé getting her hands dirty for the first time :)

wow that blower system looks pretty compact, can you put a tape measure on on it for me? measure from the passenger edge to the drivers side edge, and also from the passenger edge to the line where the vent distribution starts?


that wiring makes me nostalgic! :lol::lol::lol:

Took the measurements and it's 40" wide, 16" tall and about a foot deep. The vent comes out at the far driver side. So centre of vent is about 34" from the passenger side.

I'll be using the unit, mostly for just defrost but it should fit under the dash pretty easy and ducting should be very simple.

You can buy that paint at Canadian tire it has held up good so far.

Yea I've seen the paint there before, it's the good stuff they have. Once it gets a bit warmer or there's enuf space free'd up so I can put the heater on full blast I'll hopefully start stripping the old paint off.

As per the heater stuff I'll have to go look again. I'll take a bunch of pictures and post them up.

I still need to bleed the brakes out and disconnect a few more things and I should be ready to get that cab off and the other on. Unfortunately that won't be till after Christmas, but my little (but not so little) brother is coming back with me from the family event. So I'll have another set of hands to speed it up

Put the other cab on the back in order to make space wile I strip the cab of everything and anything I might use.

Got some brake lines to move to the inner frame rail before I can make cab mounts.

Well after some beers and measuring the cab will actually sit right on the frame with some bushings. No need to move anything!

Was going to grab the last few parts from the pick a part but Ended up getting 2' of snow and the yard was closed.
So we ended up re painting the motor to get rid of the green.

Loving this colour way more as it goes with my revised theme for the truck, witch is a blend of rum runner/race truck/steam punk.

I should hopefully have enuf time this week to get the last few parts (motor mounts, flex plate, torque vert) and hopefully get the Motor in the frame.
Sorting out what to use for the bushings as well as figuring out my garage after getting some extra outlets added to the wall.
