Re: 1971 c10 stepside
285/35/22 on a stepper? I don't know man.. You leaving the stock fender wells, and/or mini tubs in the rear?
Hoping I'm wrong. Do you have the early rear end? 22x9 - 5"BS? What are the height / width specs on the rear tires? You're probably going to need to loose the support braces at least and/ or trim the fender lip a bit. Again, not meaning it negatively at all. I know a 265/40/22 - 5" BS with the early rear end requires trimming to fit. Assuming you're bagging the truck (?) Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
thanks for the info i can use all the help i can as i've never done an old chevy truck , i know for a fact i will have to modify or even delete the brace for the drop , as far as the lip , we measured and got the right back spacing it's 5. so i'll post how it turns out when they are on

Re: 1971 c10 stepside
Ok, cool. Best of luck to you on the build! It's already looking awesome. Nice choice on the wheels too.
|
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
thanks, not my first choice for wheels but the had the matte look i was looking for since i already have billet intros on my other ride, i wanted something different , as for the tire size i did some research and the 285 are 700 thousands wider than the 265 so that makes it a 350 thousands split between inner outter wall which its about 11/32 of an inch so if i have to trim it will be minimal , im hoping , thanks again

well i got the suspension on friday but work and family activities has kept me away from the truck , so this morning i snuck in the garage for 2 hours before wife and kids woke up and took apart the front end , cleaned and sprayed with some more bedliner spray and made the cuts for rear c notch , oh and yes 2 more fregging rivets showed up on me ,:no::no::no:: hate them ,now off to friends house for red zone football ,

also started to strip rear end for disc brake set up and a stubborn gear shaft woul not give , so i snaped a spring of the possie unit so thats when i called it quits as it was midnite already , here r some pix !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Great progress.
I do have a concern. I think you have your upper a-arms on the wrong side. This appears to be the "passenger side" upper a-arm mounted on the "drivers side". |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
WoW buddy , good job , late last nite i presented that side to take a picture and i notice it was stamp wrong , ( both sides ) so i swap them , gave ride tech a call today to let them know but i did not post it in here as i dont like to put nobody down , thanks for looking out though ,

Re: 1971 c10 stepside
last nite i ran air lines to the rear and put back together the rear end gears so as for now im waiting on u bolts for front lower arms arriving tomorow as well as shock studs that were missing from the order and disc brakes kits that should arrive today , next task is to modify panhard bar bracket to work with the aluminum rear end cover

Re: 1971 c10 stepside
I might be the picture hiding it, but on the lower control arm. There should be a bracket to the front in the middle of the tube for the sway bar link. I didn't see it in the picture so I was just wanting to make sure.
Great progress by the way. |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
you are right, they sent some extra brackets in case i want to install in the future , they only welded the ones to the rear for the shocks ,
