thanks guys, no matter what it takes its still cheaper than building, and we will break even on the place in just 7 years of really cheap rent for a family member.

which method do you think will get the money? asking the person who moved out? or is moving in?

Well any progress moving forward is a win in my book.

I have been in a similar situation with a house we "inherited" through someone else's bankruptcy. Back taxes, poor upkeep, all that jazz!

Always a good thing to be able to help out your kin!

still fighting the water bill. no one lives there yet so not really an issue. had HVAC inspected, needs a furnace, maybe an outside unit too. my daughter flew in for a visit and helped with drywall, what a gal. siding is this week, new stairs, a couple new windows. sure are making a silk purse out of a two story pigs ear.

speaking of! got some work done on the truck. you remember the truck, the thing I am supposed to be talking about in this thread.

got the firewall all welded up and seam sealed and plopped back on the frame

then I started on fitting the front clip. it has sat in the driveway for a while and the daughters were fascinated by the hundreds of baby spiders having a party on it. oops time for a wash.

the forklift, oh I forgot to mention. there was a fancy rat living in the daughters abandoned mini cooper, under the hood. not a common rat, this was someones pretty multicolored pet that was living la vida independent. didnt chew anything up and was very neat with his house layout. I caught a glimpse of him as I opened the hood one day and he never came back... to that car. he did try some insulation from under the hood of my BMW, and I guess liked the vacuum line on the forklift because it wouldnt start no matter what combination of swears I used. replaced the line and it works now though, no idea where the rat went. my wife wanted to catch him as a pet again, but he refused all her offerings of fruit and snacks.

thanks guys. I got the front end squared and mounted with outboard body mounts like I have done before, easier every time. mounting the rad today, and maybe the steering and brakes.

happy 4th! I love my country and would die to defend it! this is my favorite version of this song, oh beautiful, for heros proved, in liberating strife. who more than self, their country loved, and mercy more than life.

still second houseworking. looking better. no shop work till this is done.. apparently.

my turn! (oh deer)

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1563154271

didnt see ANYTHING, before or after. just driving at 5am and suddenly BOOOOM truck shakes and I think the trans blew. Pulled right over and checked trans, tires, everything is good, then I see the hair.

I didnt check it again till I was home, its worse than 5am made it out to be.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1563154273
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1563154273

grille is broken, bumper pushed back. hood is a little out of whack. thinking of claiming it just because I know I will never fix it unless I claim it. chances are equally good I will not fix it even if I claim it, and dont want to deal with an obvious salvage title sitsu.

what was doing at 5am? driving to omaha. a really great guy is building a truck for his wife and got rid of some stuff he didnt need. he was apologizing for the condition, hand to god this is some of the nicest parts I have ever started with haha.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1563154273

I was going to use the bed on kechi until he popped with the frontend too, now I think it will look great on the black cab I havent picked up yet.

saw this on the way, in mccool junction nebraska. doing the addition I think I know which direction his project is going. maybe he is on here, if so, hey man I can help! (the forum software makes small pictures, sorry, its an AD 3600 on the left and an s10 on the trailer on the right)

I decided to run with the deer damage, I may need a bumper soon but thats ok. I seem to have an oil leak now though, might be related.

house work. sheesh. this place is weird, its a house on stilts, like what you see on the coasts. when we got it and decided to work on the house instead of bulldozing it into a nice pile and setting it on fire, I actually talked to some foundation guys about lowering it. in the end we decided to keep the garage space under the place, I will put two garage doors back in. we got the siding and new windows (north and east sides only) done and my wife is inside mudding like a razorback, almost ready for appliances.

I got the front end welded up solid, bolts in the motor mounts, brake lines teed, and the borgeson steering parts are on site. here is the one picture I took of all of that. sorry.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1564811795

incidentally, the guys who say you have to chop the front end to pieces for an s10 swap arent speaking from experience. that is all the trimming needed.

finished up the column mount I started a million years ago.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1564812051

braced to the dash brace and to the dash.

test fitting
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1564812053

everything looks good, so a final mockup and ready for finish welding and bracing.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1564812053

more to come, I had a wisdom tooth that was ok when I had the others taken out years ago, go south, so I dealt with that removal this week.

thanks fellers!

I worked a lot and got the column/pedal mount all welded up and braced and painted and installed again.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1565129136

you could literally stand on the rim of the steering column, thats how solid this is with all the bracing. the first truck I did the firewall was a like a flexi flyer sled, just bulging when you pushed the brakes, this is even stronger than the last one, I think I have my pattern now.

here is the steering column installed, I went with the borgeson collapsible shaft and a 1"DD to 1"DD at the column, 3/4"DD to 30 spline at the box. I could have used a 1"DD to 3/4"DD at the column and a straight piece of 3/4"DD shaft, but it would have been a little imprecise putting it together. I went through that on the last one, I needed to move the cab back slightly for alignment and the steering shaft did not let the cab move. (the brake line isnt kinked, its just the picture making it look like it is) all the little steering column booties are installed, should be quiet.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1565129136

I also put two bends in the gas pedal and installed it too, things get faster when you do them over and over haha.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1565129136

you can see the trans tunnel almost ready to go in. the cab had a really carved out hole in the firewall. I think maybe they pulled the block through the cab. (joking)

I sanded the dash to bare metal with 150 grit, wiped it tacked it and put the first coat of paint on that I will have to sand back off. probably the humidity today, it was 70% albeit I was in the garage.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1565129136

so I will sand that back off tomorrow when it gets set up enough and try again. LE SIGH.

You work quick! I spent most of the afternoon deciding on how to mount the radiator bracket to the frame.

Re: Project: Kechi AD S10 4.3 auto

That's always frustrating when the paint does that! Nice progress.

Re: Project: Kechi AD S10 4.3 auto

I told my wife that I always seem to have to paint the dashes twice, I should paint it the first time with garbage paint or a weird color since I always end up sanding it off.
