Every one i see of the blitz black shows a lot of stripping. I had the same problem when i shot my 41 truck with it. I had to thin it pretty good to keep it from drying so quick.

Hot rod flatz makes a single stage paint. I have already used it on my for the roof, inside cab and dash. Adding a matting agent to clear is one way but not always the best to keep that same low % gloss for every panel. There products are not pricey at all and they have "primer" colored paint . Kustom shop.

After dealing with the other way to get flat color on the bikes this is the only product we use now. In fact a local extreme high end car shop that is in tons of magazines came by to check this product out. It is easy to use and looks the same panel or tin are tin..


I would be happy to take a few pics if you want , in the light the flat pearl metallics really pop.. I know the name and what they are does not add up but it is what it is..

Ur right, the primer was the first two pictures shows the primers. PO started to paint it a "sea foam." The orange is the new color. :0)

That's because most of the time the paint was thinned with acetone which drys very fast. Tiger striping can be avoided by using automotive acrylic enamel reducer instead of acetone or mineral spirits. Just pick the correct speed reducer for the temperature when it is being sprayed.

Its not Blitz Black only rustoleum flat black cut with acetone and shot from a $30 gun in my drive way. 3 coat. Doing a big back window conversion soon already got the panel.

I’m curious, did you use flat black or satin black? When I painted my truck gloss black lacquer years ago, the original GMC hood was too beat up to paint shiny so I did it with Rustoleum flat. I looked exactly the same several years later when I gave it to a collector. If I hadn’t found Blitz Black locally, I would have done mine in Rustoleum as well. Its was flat but when i thinned it with acetone it dried satin.

the hot rod flatz kit ( paint, hardener and reducer) is about 150 per gallon kit. I painted a piece of steel when I first got it left it out side in the ans snow ( what little we get) and that was two years ago. Paint is like when I painted it.

Betty with Rustoluem Satin Black. I started with a sprayer and did the final coats in with a rattle can . It shows in some spots but this is a temp face lift until I can repair the rust and give her the love she deserves.

not had any problem with striping.i didnt even reduce it was already thin enough.never had any paint spray and lay out as nice as blitz black.everyway i spray it comes out perfect.course i do this everyday dont know if maybe that helps or not.

this is mine in hotrod black from napa its not to bad i give it a little shine with a black wax from turtle wax about once or twice a year

actually i went by the place that sprayed it to day [iam putting on new doors and i want to have them sprayed] but any way i was going to get the paint code but he wasnt there i went by napa and they said they needed the code. but did buy a rattle can off hot rod blk from there to see if it matched just got home havent tried it yet i will try and catch the guy with the paint code this weekend when i get it i will let you know. iam going to add you to my friends list
