Re: Project 78 High Sierra

just go at it, with sheetmetal all you really need to do is spot weld and skip around alot. it is time consuming, but thats the only way to do it to avoid warping. which sucks.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

no progress this weekend... I had a bachelor party to attend in ATL so I was out of town spending all my money!!! I did get a lil sanding on the first bit of bondo and put some more on it.

Should be back to it this weekend and maybe a few nights this week...

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Allthough I really want to work on the fender and hood this weekend I have decided before I do any of that I am going to do the following:

Remove the driveshaft and replace the rear seal so it stops leaking.
Remove the speedo cable and grease it so it stops jumping and squeaking
Then I shall return to the body work and hopefully have the hood and fender prepped to go ahead and install

Well started the day greasing the speedometer cable only to remove the the gauge cluster and with just a slight move the corner that holds the shifter wire broke off...I tried to rig it up but no luck...But I did put the new lens cover on it to see the difference and it looks great....Ordered a new cluster for the backing plate.

Sanded down the fender bondo and hit the hole thing with high build primer only to find a bunch of lil dings on the front of it..So i will have to sand those spots down and bondo them

Also hit some more bondo on the hood under side edge and sanded the front bondo hole...

Got to work while hung over today and got some progress on the hood...

I hit it with 3 cans of high build primer....then had to sand the whole right side back down due to the scarring from removing the paint with a flap disc...Got most of the scarring off of it but still need to do more sanding...HIt it back with another 2 coats of primer and thats where it sits..

Also sanded down the bondo on the under edge where it was ful of holes and hit the bondo with some rust tough

Also got my new gauge cluster in.....Swapped all my gauges into it and cut the speedo and gas gauge to give it a little cleaner look...I suck at making stuff straight though

On the bright side i have a couple spare gauges and the circuit board was a lot better on the new one
Swapped the needles as well as they are brighter but the speedo one you cant do...erg broke the other speedos off...glad i started with the other one lol
