1971 One Family Owned 47K Original miles... needs some attention but goes down the road great... oh yeah... she wanted $750 for it. Selling it because she needed dentures. I gave her more so that it would cover the total cost of her new teeth... a sweet old lady... named the truck after her... |
Re: Lets see the survivor trucks! original paint only!
I'm new to the group and found this thread, cool stuff! SO many nice original rides!!! Mine is rough, it's a 72 with 108,XXX miles. It is still mostly original paint with some touched up spots. I have no plans to paint it. I am the second owner but it was used and abused.

Original paint as far as I can tell. Still had the old style GM shocks when I picked it up earlier this year.

Don't know who or when funky stripes were added to rocker panels, but they aren't coming off. They're not Vinyl, they're paint!
Paints original from what I can see, and matches code. Arizona truck. |

Sorry, new at this and I see I posted this in the wrong forum but what the hell- I'll let the moderator delete or move my post. Here's one of my survivors, a 1957 GMC Suburban Carryall, clamshell. All original paint inside and out. Outside- Delta Green with Aspen Green trim; inside- Dover white and Delta Green. I did paint the wheels, they were pretty rusty, the 'ol girl deserved that much.. Started life as a North Dakota forestry truck. The North Dakota Dept. of Natural Resources ordered it in 1957 with bench seats that run lengthwise rather than crosswise; seats 5 on each side along with the standard three up front. Deluxe chrome gauges as well as the deluxe heater and controls. Standard trim outside. Purchased from the N.D. Forest Service by a local family who used it for pheasant hunting on their farm for almost 50 years.

A few more- the engine bay, original 6, left it untouched- grease up to my armpits whenever I work on it. I did wash the firewall and inner fenders, nicest paint on the whole truck.. I used phosphoric acid on the bumpers, kills the rust and brings the white paint out nicely. Don't have the money for paint and body work so it'll stay a survivor for as long as I own it- and that's gonna be a long time.. Thanks for lookin'.
