Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Thanks guys, that 4th door is taking shape, it has been a lot of grafting of other door pieces since I started with mediocre doors. The rocker panel patches for the bottom was a success. They lined up really good with the contour at the bottom. I just need to get my gaps sucked in better and finish around that. Very happy to almost be done with the challenging side. Trevor

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Continues to look great - Excellent color choice!!!!
That is going to look sharp. Are you running the color solid or a two tone wih trim? |
Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
It will be solid with both upper and lower trim. Trevor

Nice work Trevor!

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Just an FYI, West Side in Emporia has an old burb in the yard. Not sure if any of those pieces would help with your doors(glass, door panel mock-ups) or any other part of the truck. Progress is looking good though.

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Thanks bud, I think I have most of everything I need to finish the door up finally. Between work, and dragging home future projects, I haven't had a lot of time lately to work on the crew. Trevor

Had a little bit of time to start mocking up the back passenger door tonight. I need to cut another back door pillar piece as this one had a little more rust in the seams i didnt want to take a chance with later.

Tonights progress....just about done with the inside of the door. I dont have the.holes drilled through the hinge support yet. So it was just sitting on the rocker threshold. Trevor

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Just curious on what your plans for the roof are? To keep the tall suburban roof and modify the back of the cab or shorten the roof? And also I'm wondering about the rear doors I see you shortened the 4th door toatch the 3rd door but am contemplating how difficult it would be to cut longer and replace the 3rd door with a full size door and just adding a regular full size door to the driver rear and just modifying the window Arch's to match the cab

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
I'm here to help.
As far as the roof and doors. It will have the truck roof with clearance lamps and a pancaked burn roof. The doors just look longer on full size doors, but you have to modify 2 doors instead of one to be able to swing open on the pillar. Plus I want it looking more factory like every stock crew cab I've seen 73 on up. Trevor |
Re: Project: Big Grapefruit

Yes, I'm still plugging away after work. Finally got my upper door channels done and new drip rails to line the pillar up to the truck drip rails. My pillar stuck out from the truck roofs too far. These one piece channels helped suck in the pillar from the burn position. Also, by doing it this way helped in getting rid of the factory 1/4" difference between both sides and close gaps.
