Just found your truck today and I will follow your progress. Good decisions, IMO on everything so far.

Really nice build and different too. I always like different. I really enjoy going through your build thread. Nothing like the first start with the engine installed. I was grinning ear to ear when I fired mine up for the first time.

svr, I noticed on a few threads that you had used a key in steering column and shaved the ignition switch off of the column. How did you go about disabling the trans and steering locking?

I have an 80's tilt key in column and want to just use the in dash switch that I already have wired up.

Clegg, evidently i didnt take any pics when i did that, at least i cant find any. What i did was dissaemble the column until could get the key cylinder out, all the guts that operate the ignition switch down on the column and the lock mechanism. I took the cone that held the key cylinder was in and cut the protrusion off until it was close to even. I made a plug from a piece of steel shaft to fill what was left of the hole the cylinder and glued it in with JB weld. From there it was grinding and finishing the cone and reassembly. Its been a couple yrs since i did that but thats what i remember. When i reassembled i replaced the bearings and the turn signal switch and lock tighted the screws that hold the tilt mechanism. If you have any more questions let me know.

I bought a what was advertised a 55-59 22 circuit wireing harness. It didnt come with much for directions but at least all the wires were marked and color coded. I wasnt going with electric windows or locks so i had to sort out which wires i needed and which to pull out and sort them into groups to there end destinations. Lots of thinking rethinking reorganizing as i went about stringing the harness into place.

I bought some asphalt covered cloth wire loom and pulled the wires through rather than the split plastic loom.

Decided to hange my doors and found a few issues i missed earlier in my haste, some problems are not caused by PO's, i cause some of my own.

When i did my Black Diesel 1 piece window mod i evidently got the window channels to far back and the latches would not fit flat like they should have. So i had to drill out the channel to relieve the knobs on the back of the latch.

So a couple weeks set back to fix the door and hang the fenders to make sure all fit together right. Need to refinish some body work but maybe then be back on track.

Strong work, looking real good. What size / width / off set / back set do you have on the rims and what's the stats on the tires? They are looking great

How did you establish ride height using the C-4 vette suspension?

Thanks in advance, things are moving on your build, I'm jealous!

Keep on keepin on

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4

Ok, on the ride height i am using the original corvette rear spring with 11”
Lowering bolts set at about 10”, i might let it down a bit more at some point. I set the upper shock mounts so regular ‘88 corvette shocks fit at this ride height. On the front i just set everything so the lower A arms are about level and am happy with that look. Right now front is held up by a couple pieces of square tube while im trying to figure out what spring rate to get for the coil overs for the front. The 235 is a heavy motor.
On the wheels and tires they are American Torq Thrust II Classic’s. Fronts are 17x8 with 225/50x17 on 8” rims if I remember correct about 4” back space. Rears are 17x9.5 with 285/40x17 on the 9.5” rims and i think back space was 5.5”. Thanks
