Thanks Tim, I keep you in our prayers, hope all is well!

Progress is extremely slow but, I do have a few moments here and there.

Wifey took a bad tumble a few weeks back and still has me concerned...can't get her to slow down, even with her condition. No need for her to rush, but she does

Thank you very much Jim, it's good to hear from you.

Sorry to hear about the wife, I hope she is doing better. Just keep your eye on her.

Keep up the good work on the Jimmy, it's coming along nicely.

She's looking good! Be careful tho or you'll end up like me. Everytime I get a new part I have to take it apart again to put that one on. Maybe thats why I've been restoring for 6 years?

It has the 6.2L L99. I got the automatic tranny, so no LS3. Its still 426 HP tho, so it'll put your head back nice and strong when you get on it. I really like it...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but if your L99 Camaro is stock...you have 400hp...not the 426hp of the LS3...no matter what your salesman said.

No worries, I'd like it even if it was just one of the 6 cylinder versions.

Re: PO has me PO'd

no doubt. They run really well and still get good mpgs.

We're planning on ordering a Camaro convertible after they come out. It may be a Z/28 (556hp LSA?) convertible if its released by the time we order and with a rag top...otherwise a RS/SS convertible with a stick. :chevy:

I've been saying the same thing about the Blazer! I'd like to drive it some and leave the Camaro at home for a change. Gotta get the top painted and windshield in first.

I can't wait to see what that convertible is going to look like tho. Its gonna be sweet!!

:lol:Funny how us old guys think, we'd rather drive something from our past, that we built ourselves! We just keep plugging away at the task at hand.

We look at the Cameros and such as normal, but our enjoyment comes from the rusty ol' stuff

Yep, give me a project any day. Someone can always go buy one off the lot, but how many times do you get to drive one you built or saved?

speaking of lots, remember in HS, we would go to the Chevy dealer and ask the salesman if we could drive such and such car. "Why sure young man, give me a minute to get some plates"

Sure was hard to keep them going straight on those 8" bias ply tires

Hehe, when I was a younger, there were no car lots for miles and miles around us. (Farmboy). If you wanted to drive something new, you were just out of luck. Of course, I bought my first car when I was 14 too, with my hay money. A 68 Galaxie 500. The one and only F#$D I have owned.

Jim, you close to driving that thing yet? :)

I'm hoping to fire mine up next weekend. I need to start a thread with all the picures I have taken.

I'm glad you got to spend some time with your boys. I only have 1 at home the other 2 are alot futher away and I don't get to see them very often.

Doug

Thanks for asking Doug, but I'm still trying to get the motor back together. Had a couple hours this weekend and got the timing chain and cover finalized and installed. Now it's on to the oil pan, seem to have a problem with one of the bolt holes...gotta look into that

Good luck with the engine start, and yes it is always a good time hanging out with the boys. Be patient, they always seem to drift back home eventually

seems like the 3/4" fastners work better than the 1/2" ones, just to short to grab! The bottom corners are the worst, no clearance room to swing the fastners up, My idea of using a hook tool to grab the fastner and swing it up was somewhat a success. I only stabbed my finger once, no where near as bad as Levi, that thing had to hurt

Re: PO has me PO'd

Well had a couple hours to mount up the oil pan, dang PO had the rear passenger side cross threaded...put some grey RTV silicone in the top 4 corners where the block meets the gasket. Had to drop the oil filter to get at one of the oil pan bolts

Much easier job with the DIY4X4 crossmember flanged, no support this time from the top of the motor

Once I get the valve covers bolted down, I should be able to add oil and prime the engine thru the dizzy hole.
Big improvement from the days of finding plastic chunks from the timing sprocket in the oil pan
