spraybomb:
To conceal or obscure an original paintjob by the hasty and often sloppy use of spray paint. Most often used on stolen items such as bicycles, etc.

Keep wrenchin'/cleanin' it will pay off big time.

Ah, give yourself a break. When I was just coming out of ike skool I wanted to do the same thing. Just remember, get yourself another car, have your truck break down 4 or 5 times, let it sit and rot for 10 or so years, consider selling it then punch your self right in the face for considering it, then you will know, it's time for a FRAME-OFF!!!:metal:

Apple juice is so good. Don't know of you are a beer drinker but if you like apples, you should try Redd's Apple Beer. It's a sweet sipping beer, and it is so yummy! I'm curious how these a-arms will come apart too. I'm sure the clown mechanicking on them will come up with some shenanigans will trying to get them apart.

Im not a welder but I'm eyeing one of these hard for when the time comes for sheetmetal work on my 78.

http://www.eastwood.com/welders/mig-welders.html

All the reviews i can find are very favorable on them, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

The 110 setup would be plenty, but i already have a 220 plug in my garage so i would like to have that one to keep that outlet from going to waste....

Ya know, blue, you could always just plug in that welder twice then you wouldn't feel like that plug is going to waste. Food for thought.

I might have sold a step bumper and receiver to a local which means I can buy more junk!:metal: I'm also thinkin when I do the c-notch install it'll be a pirate themed picture day, who knows?!

This morning I put my big boy socks on and headed out the door

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...420_174919.jpg

This blazer is parked across from my work, poor thing needs some love

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...417_185225.jpg

And this beauty is parked across from where I fuel my rig, it has had lots of love

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...3_085501-1.jpg

So the plan was to hop my froggy bottom out into the garage once I had returned to my castle, but the dishwasher had other plans for me. If memory serves me right, after you run the dishwasher your dishes are supposed to smell of a clean freshness rather than a melted stinky plastic and old cheese socks. Apperently, kids don't realize that if a drink mixer stick fits through the holes in the silverware tray, that it will still fit through the holes in the tray even after they stuff it full of silverware. Plastic mixer stick + heating element = delicious freshness for all to behold. Study up, there will be a quiz on this equation tomorrow. I did sneak to the car hold for a quick minute to experiment with a mixture of bleach and ammonia to see if I could get any more rust off. WARNING - do not mix bleach and ammonia, it makes mustard gas, but sure beats the nuts out of rust!;)

This was five minutes of light scrubbing, imagine if some actual effort was put into this. Hmmm...

Re: Big Rat's 1979 C10 High School Hot Rod Restooo

Oh sorry Max. I think there was an underlying nudge saying, HURRY THIS BUILD UP, WE NEED RESULTS, MAN! Let me clarify my "actual effort". Soak the mothers over night, lightly scrub, add a hint of basil, or perhaps dill weed, and pressure spray clean.

If you've not got the resources to blast them, just degrease and paint them. They'll look good for many years. This will be a fair weather driver right ? Trucks that sit in the garage most of the time don't deteriorate. Besides, it's gonna be out of sight anyway.

Don't get bogged down. If you spend a week fussing over some part that won't ever be seen your project will be susceptible to stalling.

I've used Rustmort from the local paint shop to kill off the rust.
Spray it or use a brush.
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps59af44c0.jpg
Its fairly inexpensive, equivalent to apple juice but I wouldn't drink it.
Eastwood has rust killer stuff too but I have never tried it.

On a side note for rust removal, I built a little glass bead blaster cabinet with a 55 gallon barrel. With glass bead you can blast remove rust and not harm the metal. All for under $50
I would wrap the spindles with tape just as a precautionary measure though.

Not to get off track but what are the plans for the other two critters out in the field?http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/sp...ick/reiter.gif

I wish I had a blast cabinet, but I don't. Absolutely will be only driven when dry. This thing has paid it's dues and seen enough Utah salt and snow, now it's time for it to not deal with rot.

The '69 will be getting the frame off, lwb to swb, street rod, and big block(big rat) treatment. My '79 was a great starting project for me as it wasn't in too bad of shape and has a good learning curve. The '69 is in pretty rough shape. It is going to need A LOT of sheet metal work. I really want to salvage as much of the original metal as I can. I have many many memories with my grandpa(R.I.P) and also with my dad, in that truck. As silly as it may sound, I want to preserve as much of the original for sentimental reasons. Now the Nova, 502+ c.i. of asphalt punishment. It is an Oregon car so the body is excellent but I don't have many parts for it. It will be by far the most expensive to build. I needed to get my fix sooner than later, which is why I rolled out the Nova, and rolled in the '79. Oh and by the way, that field is my back yard! I just need to mow is all!

And for those of you needing tips on how to get your mohawk to stand straight up, you know who to come to, and yes, it is real!

I'm gonna start on the frame tomorrow, I feel like I've slowed down and this big rat is only dieseling along on 5 cylinders or missin like the Ace Ventura's monte. Unacceptable. Must make progress!

Hi. How's things? Good? Yeah, me too. So, didn't do anything last weekend. My daughter decided it was going to be her 9th birthday last Saturday. I know, I know. How inconsiderate of her. She threw a party and had all her friends over to spend the night. I punished her severely for the multiple counts of vandalism and aggrivated assault on me. Today the wife bribed me with Lowes and Harbor Freight to take her to get some sushi, but I did manage to get a little something done and I'm hoping to get a little more done tomorrow.

Why is it that the most comfortable seat in the house is the 'ol bench seat from your truck sitting on the garage floor? I'll take a rain check from workin on the truck to sit here and watch these two little bozos any day!!!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...427_174353.jpg
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...427_174040.jpg

Went for a leisurely stroll in the field, as Bomp would call it, and noticed this on the fender of my '69. Just thought it was neat. 292, how cute.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...427_183807.jpg

I'm a classy broad, yet I'm always catching grief for my classy Coors Light! So I went and picked me up some of my REAL favorite! Oh you have GOTTA try this stuff! Suwweeeet sippin beer! Better than apple juice!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...430_210147.jpg

I guess we can get to the boring stuff. Figured I better get these clean if I want the sharpie to stick!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...421_172537.jpg

Watch for my wife, I might be in trouble cleanin spindles in the kitchen sink!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...504_151552.jpg

CRAP! Here she comes! I'll just throw them in my custom built spindle steamer!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...504_153033.jpg

All better. Cleaned all the rust off, washed the bare metal with water, and put on a fresh coat of rust. Feels good to make circles of progress.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...504_153340.jpg

Pulled out my "part painting hanger upper" and put my days of paintin railcars to work! I swear, I've used this crane for just about every step of this build so far. Money well spent. Well played HF, well played.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...504_160351.jpg
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...504_163049.jpg

Painted and textured the spindle posts green, not bad eh?!

Nice paint work on the spindles. They is beautiful.
Now you gotta build you a “clean shelf” in the garage or a shed. :dohh:more work, to store safely away all the goodies.
Me wifey is pretty care free until “car parts” get in the house. She don’t say much but you don’t want to fall asleep either.
If doc says my foot is all healed on Tuesday Im getting some of that their apple juice.
Little critters in the drive way,,,,,,ah,, memories. They need SideWalkChalk!!!

How you gonna get the frame in that "custom built spindle steamer"?
