I'm here waiting fellas. It's a private park on the Guadalupe that only the people living in my neighborhood have access to. Bring it on! I have attached a couple pics of the park to give you an idea...

I'm in the same boat. I will dig out my NOS tail light bezels and wear them on a chain around my neck to show my support for all the running driving trucks that will be there.

I'm going over right now dude. That's perfect!!!

Yeah it's a nice place, I went down there today and cooled off a little. There is a lot more parking along with BBQ pits and a playground up top where the asphalt is. Hell there is even a few truck around in this neighborhood, if they saw all of us parading around we might make some new friends.

The wheels pictured on your Blazer, what are they called? I had a set, but the truck sat too long and the tires became dry rotted, so we swapped them out. My dad had the tires in his back yard, in front of his garage, with a dog(sometimes two), and some jerk still got away with 4 tires and wheels (ruining two sets), so he scrapped them all. Long story short, I'd like to find another set someday.

I think they are very cool in a retro way, honestly, if I could find a way to polish them and make them shiny I would probably keep them on my rig. Unfortunately as far as I know, magnesium will always look dull like that. Mine aren't perfect, a few dings and dents here and there, but if I am every ready to get rid of them I will let you know.

I know these are back in time a bit, but thought I'd chime in since I just read it. I'm pretty sure those wheels are aluminum. Magnesium wheels haven't been made for decades and I don't think they ever came in that pattern. I could of course be wrong. But I have some 5 bolts of those on my truck and I've seen several trucks with these in 6 bolt. They were made by Western and called tubines, cyclones and huricanes. They are fairly easy to find used. They should polish up ok, I hope, because I plan on using mine for a while yet.

Good luck with the build, both truck and shop, when you get to it.

I am the farthest thing from a Mag wheel expert as there can be. I am just going by what a couple of the local tire shops told me along with the parts guy when I went in to buy some lug nuts. According to the PO they have been on the blazer since at LEAST the early 80's maybe longer. I know they are very hard to clean and the best I could get them came after alot of scrubbing with Eagle 1 Mag Cleaner. They don't look like any aluminum wheel I have seen but I could be wrong. Any way to check for sure? I'm EXTREMEMLY curious now!

Here are some "after scrubbing" closeup pics and a pic of the Mag Shank style lug they require.

I used a Polish called noxon7 that worked really good on some wheels that I had. Its about 7 bucks.

Here is what sold me on the product,

I use YouTube sometimes times to see how a certain product works
Work on aluminumm too

Got a torch? Magnesium burns white hot:devil: aluminum just melts.

Probably don't want to check it that way, huh?

Here's some magnesium wheel info: http://www.roadsters.com/wheels/#Mag

I told you a long time ago that those weren't magnesium, magnesium wheels were what some old school racers used, and they were expensive...the last thing I would call anything on your blazer. Curtis and Dave ran them on their roadster and Camaro in the 60's and 70's.

Like I said, I had no idea. I was just going by what the guys at Discount tire, a little local shop, and the parts counter said. I guess all three of these guys were wrong.

Sand them out and buff them up. The aluminum will shine, if it is so

Man, who know?!?!? How are you with body work???

Between the 105+ degree heat, my first son being born a few weeks ago, and me having more projects going at once than I have money, time, and sense for (some of them not truck related) it could be a little while. I have basically everything gathered parts-wise and the shop about halfway done, but rest assured eventually the LQ4-K5 will be finished! :waah:

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09

Im doing body work for the first time now on my gmc so im not very good yet and I haven't started on any of the hard stuff so ill see how that goes. I here ya with the heat but today was actually pretty nice for a first, and I also have tons of projects that aren't even close to being completed (and nowhere near enough money to complete them)

I'm bringing your build back from the dead. After PM'ing the other day about the cool "8-364" badge in your avatar, I had to look you up. I found your build thread. Not only is your truck dark green, but you are bolting-in a 6.0L engine. :metal: BTW - my truck is dark green and I would love to stab-in either a LQ9 of L92, complete with updated auto and crawler case.

So, now that I am subscribing, you gotta post some updates. :)

How's the shop? How's the blazer? How's the drivetrain?

It hasn't died...more like hibernating. I've had a lot of setbacks both blazer related and otherwise but progress has never stopped, just slowed down a little. The shop is almost done, just need to finish the insulation and inside walls.

More importantly I have been doing a few things to the blazer in the background, but nothing I'm proud enough to show pics of yet. I will however, show a few pics of the final parts to the drivetrain that I collected. I will start at the front and work my way back with the pics.
1. The 6.0 (you've seen this pic before)
2. The NV4500 complete with LS style bellhousing, ignore the np261 it's long gone now (this is a re-post also)
3. Advanced Adapter nv to round 205 spacer (THIS IS NEW STUFF!)
4. Round Pattern NP205 with 32 spline female input from an 89 1 ton. (Also new and something I'm extremely excited about. :metal:)
5. 14 bolt full floater from a 95 1 ton so the spring perches are already in the correct place, but I might change them anyway due to the pinion angle.

I am VERY excited about my drive train! I feel like it will be virtually bulletproof once I get it in the blazer and get all the details worked out.

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09

I'm kinda approaching this as "the drive train Chevy SHOULD have built". Hopefully it works out.

I have a lot more working in the background, but maybe those pics will hold you over for a little while till I can get caught up on a few things. Eventually I will get some stuff posted that is REALLY worth seeing.
