thanks guys what color do you think i should paint it? i want to do it flat black but the wife want's it shiny. i kind of like the current black. the lighter grey fenders help as well... if i had to do shiny i think i would do it dodge flame red... comments

Re: mylow53 build
A Candy Green for the Hood, cab and bed with white or light gray fenders. Or half and half the colors. I think the light fenders and dark cab is what gives the truck that great look. It could also have a jagged stripe

just got the drive line from coast drive line in ventura calif (ask for mark) (http://www.coastdriveline.com/Drivelines.htm). i mesured this thing 20 diffrent times and guess what it actually fits!! the reason i'm so excited is the original cross member looked like it would hit the drive line. i couldn't tell till i had a drive line in.... and what do you know you air out the rear and it clears...i also am installing a new style (at least to me) tranny cooler. have a look.
as for the color i think green is a little out there for me. you see it's the wifes favorite color and it seems like the entire family is dressed in green, so i think either red or leave it as is.... GT |

ok another milestone.... the truck is off to paint!!! this weekend we barrowed brad's trailer "Cambells auto body moorepark, ca." and hauled the engineless truck to his shop... i had my 12 year old steering while me and the neighbors pushed it up the trailer. and smash!!! my boy already dinged the fender!!!!! well what ya gonna do. it's just a minor scrach on the already preped fender. so now we have an empty garage and i have nothing to do on the weekends!!!
can't wait till final assembly begins! heres a pic of the boy helping pull the engine... man is he big for 12 years old already wears my size 10 and 1/2 shoe!! GT |
Re: mylow53 build
great progress! I am working on my 54 gmc. mine is going to stay rust and primer, I'm going for the rat rod theme. Not too many people do that where I live in nepa,so it should be different. I hope to have some pix to share soon.:metal:

Thanks, shinny is nice but then you have to worry about scraching it. The way I'm doing mine I won't have to worry. Plus I plan on driving the balls off mine while the good weather last in the spring and summer. I'll park it for the winter in storage. The other thing is I'm building on a really tight budget. I also like the old mother nature paint work that is already done. i know, but it just looks cool on the truck

well the body shop had some success aligning my doors. they've been cutting and slicing the cab to get good gaps.. looks like the hood will need to be pie cut to get it to fit correctly. i will try to get some photos of the progress....

i know it's been a cupel of weeks if not months but... slowly but Shirley things are progressing on the build. almost all of the panel alignments are done. The hood didn't need to be pie-cut it fits after all. brian decided to re do my steering the right way. heres some pict of some progress

progress progress it's been about a month or so but today i finally saw the truck. Brad has been busy on it. you will see in the following picts the ribbing he has installed. it's designed to hold the "one piece" hood and when molded in will look cool. since we removed the rotted drip rails he's add the round tubing to help with the water....
enjoy GT |

Re: mylow53 build
in the last photo you see the hood welded in. this is to show where they are going to pie cut the hood to make the metal fit properly
