Sounds like oil and vinegar?

That would be a show ................... both are the best PowerBlock had on the air, with their skill and personalities it would be awsome.

You da' man Lou

Lou, sweet work as always!! Since you have some free time now, just hop on over to Big Sandy, TN. for the annual truck meet. We'd all like to meet a celebrity in person.

I know with the ride height at 5" engine placement might be an issue. I really don't want to run a big cowl hood. I didn't want to cut the crossmember in half so I could put tubing in it. Thinking what to, I remembered that one of you guys on the site had cut out the top of the crossmember and made it skinny. I looked around and found that JLAIRD had done this. So I tried it I've never done one like this before. Alittle more finish grinding and I think it might just look good

The fit wasn't that great but keeping with my plan of using all the scrap I could I hammered flat the piece that came out and fit it to make a small step.

Now all I have to do is weld it up Thanks JLAIRD

Dude, besides Jessi, you're my favorite host on the "Block". Well, Courtney probably edges you out too. I think it's her hair. Anyways, welcome to the board from San Antonio. Good luck on your project. Maybe we'll see you in S.A. sometime. LATER. Mario.

You do nice work Lou:metal: Whereabouts in Kannapolis do you live?. I have alot of family down there and was just there a few weeks ago to visit with my uncle before he passed away. I saw about 5 of the 67-72 trucks around town. My cousin races his Nova at Mooresville Dragway:chevy:

Hey Lou,

I can't take all the credit for the crossmember chop, but I did do it thanks to Captkaos's directions. Looks good so far. JUST FYI, the way you did yours is different than how it's usually done. Most people notch it all the way to under the frame rails for a lower ride height. It sounds like you did because you had some "engine placement" concerns, but I'm not quite sure what exactly you were concerned about. Anyway.....LATER!

Here's a nice concise write-up by Captkaos: http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/chopcross.html

Re: For your viewing pleasure

Thanks jlaird, 'preciate it!
Lou dropped it with the framerails so the engine is higher now, so dropping it down the way he did will sit the motor down some in realtion to how the frame dropped it down.

Looking good Lou.

Excellent progress on your truck Lou. I'll tell you what, I'm really going to miss seeing you on the show. Just like when Stacy left Trucks, the show just isn't the same.

I gotta admit, when I read your posts all I hear is you talking with the NY accent in my head. It cracks me up big time lol.

i dont know if it has been covered already???

but why did you leave lou?

i would assume theres a problem at that shop somewhere either with managment of with how much they pay you guys, because they have all of there great builders leaving.

So why are all of the really great builders leaving the shows

I think it's kind of expected to ask questions regarding the show guys, but just realize that a) you are kinda taking the thread off-topic and b) he might not want to talk about that kinda stuff :)

It may not be my place to say this, but it was something that just crossed my mind :) Giving the guy props is one thing (he deserves it) but hounding him with personal questions and talking about the show is ... I dunno, could be a little weird.

Just my 2¢

Re: For your viewing pleasure

I left the show for a couple of reasons The main one I had to get back with the family. The other ones I will just leave alone.

But anyway Captkaos is right I was a bit worried about the engine being to high. I think it will be alright now.

70c10 I'm right off of Centergrove rd. Now the engine is in the mounts are tacked up

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...U/IMG_1562.jpg

The Gear Vendors gets put on in the morning. I'll finish up the mounts and start on the headers I plan on doing a mid lenght header. After that the rear end gets the 4-Bar. Then all of the bracing starts.

Re: For your viewing pleasure

That's a snazzy looking tranny mount.

How is the weight distribution for the engine over the crossmember? Roughly the same as stock, or ??

The engine is set back about 4" so I really don't know yet. When I get it done I'll scale it. I'll mount the cab in a couple of days. That should be fun making all the mounts.

Yeah, real fun. I envy you not...
Are you going to set them lower on the frame? (pending any clearance issues, but nothing a torch won't fix :D)

I just found this thread tonight.....couldn't believe it was Lou. Ian showed up on OFN a while back, and now here's Lou. Welcome to the board Lou! I'm with everyone else....Muscle Car won't be the same without you. I get the feeling something's up with Trucks too since all they're showing is re-runs. I was hoping to see that '66 get done. And now Jessi's leaving....looks like Powerblock is going down the sh***er.

Anyway this looks like a really cool build Lou. And as usual some cool fab work too. I'll be subscribing so I don't miss anything. :D
