slow going for sure, mocked up bulkhead to run heat and A/C lines behind inner fenders, got floor and firewall painted, hope to get rest of inside of cab painted this weekend, then I can wire it for good, still hoping to drive it on the driveway and down the side streets at house to find any gremlins prior to painting the front end, a few photos

That's looking really really good. Envious of your work space. I love all the small touches that only you know are there, they take so much time and only you can fully appreciate them but so very worth it.

thanks for the kind words fellows, got the cab inside painted, quite a bit of cutting and buffing to do on dash top, but I believe it will rub out nicely, a few photos

Helped buddy across the street with paint, he cleaned up firewall and had me spray it in my booth, really cool Camaro

Wiring about done, started engine, working on door panels with new latches, got to drive it on the drive, hope to get the tune set properly and sneak it down a couple of side streets before blowing it back apart for the last of the painting, a few photos

Looking Sharp, I like your Dash with those gauges in it. Those latches are so much safer than stock. Good Job

Driven it around the neighborhood, fixed several cars for the kids, back at it soon

Nice build!

I like the pressure relief vent exit in the bottom of the door. I guess you need that when you drive with no windshield, lol.
looks good.
darn kids always need something, haha.

Re: New 1958 Project

nice idea for the paint booth. I have painted in my garage using furnace filters under the partly open garage door and then having the windows open for ventilation. I am still buffing overspray off everything in the shop, haha.

Re: New 1958 Project

Thanks Hubscrub, been a long road

Too funny DSRaven on the pressure relief slots!!
Paint booth has worked perfectly, have had 4 insurance auction cars through it for the kids, looking forward to the hotrod getting back in there!!

Re: New 1958 Project

yeah, all my kids had insurance write off cars too. they helped fix them so they know a little more about the car plus the difference between a screw driver and a crescent wrench. my wife drove a few repaired cars as well.
keep plugging away and you'll get it done. looks great so far.

Holy smokes where did that year go!! Got all the crashed cars done finally, done with those for a bit.
Back at the hotrod now, thought I had passenger door pretty good, not really, 4 hours later I am happier with it, should be able to get lower sections done this week then to drivers door, which was a hot mess when I last worked on it. A few photos

Did you cut the latch brackets and but it up to the door panel? I was thinking of doing the same think to mine.

Re: New 1958 Project

yep, cut both the door panel and the latch bracket, welded into new door panel, a bit harder to put together as the latch needs to be bolted to the link prior to panel assembly, buy I like the look.

Great looking build! Love the color... thinking something similar for my build. Can’t wait to see it finished.

Thanks for the kind words Jason
Passenger door took a helluva lot longer to get than I thought it would, but we are getting there. Due to all the rot on the cab and the doors, I had no reference to get the door bottom landed, trial and error have it pretty good, a few photos
