Build looks great! Really like the suspension! I’m not looking forward to the bodywork/sanding either

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Did you decide on spring rates for your front coilovers? I've seen that guys have been using 400# springs with the sbc TF trucks. Been researching it for mine, calculator seems to come up 400-450 depending on where I estimate the front unsprung weight will be.

Ok its been awhile since an update, been a busy yr plus all the Covid crap.
Lots of sand, prime, block when time allowed. Finally declared it good enough for driver quality, i suck at body work so it was never going to be show quality but i wanted what ever it turned out to be to be mine. I built a temporary paint booth inside my shop covered in plastic with box fan and furnace filter ventilation. |

The wood i used is called brown maple, i milled it on my table saw and fit it. I found that wood would not take stain even no matter what i tried, was about to make fire wood out of it or leave it natural color when i read about spraying it with clear coat. Ok what would happen if i mixed the stain with the clear coat? After a couple experiments to get the color clearcoat and hardener i went for it and after 3 coats am pretty happy.

Interesting color combo. Is it light and dark gray? The lighter color seems to have a touch of green on my monitor. Loving your thread!

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Looks fantastic, nice work! Are you thinking about a contrasting pinstripe to separate the top and bottom (orange?) What is the cream color called?
|
Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Imperial ivory and Dawn gray,56 and 57 chevy colors, yes thinking about either orange or red maybe 1/4” pin stripe

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
I really like the 2 tone paint. Where did you make the cut line on the bed? The fender bead?
|
Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Yes on the fender bead, about 3.5” below the body line.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Can’t wait to see a full side shot of that. Thx.

Lots of bolts to put together bed wood, strips and inner and outer fenders, but they are all in.

Its outside and mobil, needs alignment before any very long runs, carb linkage needs some adjustment, choke stepup keeps kicking in. Sunvisors and inside roof panel sometime. Need more than a trip around the bock now.

Wow, that came together nicely. Great work! I'll be very interested to hear how it rides and drives with the 30-year suspension upgrade.
