:agree: Rus is 100% correct on this. My dropmembers were absolutely worth the wait and I am a very impatient person so for me to say this means a lot.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Broey man that would be so sick.

I'm with rust built. I own a business also and it sucks to hire, train, teach others to do something you take great pride in. Regardless of what Mr President says I built my business from scratch, one car at a time, one late night or worked weekend at a time. I have ordered several times from Nate and sometimes the wait time was a week, others 6 weeks. It is what it is. He holds his guys, comps y, and his name to a standard. If that means longer wait time and he's ok with that then so be it.
I wouldn't want to wait 8 weeks, but if the DM was the weapon of choice for me... Then I will wait.

I would have ordered from you but I wasn't going to wait 6 weeks. Spent my greenies somewhere else.
I know you build top quality stuff but it aint gold plated.

Ever think that MAYBE the level of quality that goes into each piece takes a little time and effort? Maybe Nate isn't sitting at the bench like a Jack in the Box grill cook waiting for the next order to drop so he can get it out fast enough for the drive thru?

I know for sure none of my welds have ever looked this good.

I waited about 8 weeks for my dropmember. It was easy to get impatient at times, but the end result is well worth it IMO. And once my dropmember showed up I was like a little kid on Christmas. And the quality is unbelievable. Top notch product for sure. Thanks again Nate, Dave, and all the PB fabricators!

This is a big problem with our society these days... The "I want it now" attitude. He ain't Autozone, he is a custom fab shop! These pieces he's MFG'ing take time and skill that you may not understand or have an appreciation for... Your loss.;)

I know you're entitled to an opinion, but telling someone to "hire some more people or whatever it takes", doesn't understand the business.

I'm sure Porterbuilt will be just fine... they've come this far doing what they do. :metal:

In the process of ordering my dropmembers I talked to Nate about the wait and if you want to know my opinion (as a small business owner myself) I think he should raise his prices! I would have paid more for my dropmembers because its the only product on the market that is gonna give me exactly what I want! Nate has a small group of talented guys and I understand the frustration of hiring someone new and training all that jaz.
Keep it up Nate, you and your crew produce awesome products! Oh and I see gold every time I look at my Dropmembers!

2nd that rus. That just means that the people that don't want to wait will leave room for the people that do. Porterbuilt keep up the awesome work and thanks for the excellent customer service.

Had to add to my last response. All I can say is that everyone who ordered from Porterbuilt is a happy customer. That with in itself proves that what Porterbuilt is doing keeps customers happy. If you haven't ordered from Porterbuilt because of the lead times you my friend are missing out!!!!!

Not everyone was a happy customer from a few posted complaints I've seen so PB's human... ;) . But the rest of us understand the build time & appreciate the communication & follow-up (expected & appreciated by me).

For comparison, MMW is minimum 6wks out for 2 a-arms.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

First off I appreciate all the support and compliments to what we do. We do our best and have a pretty good track record when it comes to quality and customer service. Perfect... no, but be always try to improve and always learn from experience.

Our current build time is pushing the 6 to 8 week mark on the orders... that's longer than I would like. The goal is to get it back to the 4 week range without sacrificing quality. That's not the easiest thing to do. We do have some new equipment coming in that should be here the end of May that will help speed up the production process and streamline a few things. We are also working on adding some more help in the shop... which is harder than most would think. I have a high standard and the "right" guys aren't easy to come by... or cheap. Needless to say, we are expecting to get back to the 4 week mark by the middle to end of summer (we will see how it goes). :)

My business philosophy is simple... high quality parts and service will equal a steady flow of business. I know that not everybody wants to wait, but that's OK. Seems to be sufficient for enough guys to keep the food on the table and the doors open here at Porterbuilt. :ito:

It's great stuff! but when they tell you three weeks and it five weeks for one part? and don't return three calls?

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Most commoners do understand what a quality product is and also recognize that quality is at the forefront of most successful businesses. Perhaps choosing where to make a purchase from is based quality, quick product turnaround, or is it A-one customer service etc, I tend to believe it’s these and many other factors. Anyway, one thing is for certain, successful businesses are always (not occasionally) backed by satisfied customers. That’s all I got to say:exit:

That's beautiful. That piece should be sitting on a coffee table in a high end home. It's artwork, if you ask me.

I cant figure out what that piece is for... ?

Pro Performance 04-26-2013 10:36 AM

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

It s looks like something that the drop member gets bolted to. Maybe this piece gets welded to the 55-59 frame, so that the drop member can bolt up to it??? That's my guess anyways. Now you have me curious.

I guess the way I see it, Nate has been waiting for my money for about 2 years now, so 8 weeks after he finally gets it seems like a sweet deal to me.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

I got mine about a year ago, I would wait as long as it takes to get another one if I do another project, the quality is that good. Being in an automotive customer serviced based business myself (service advisor), I see all kinds of people. There's the people that have no idea what it really takes to work on vehicles and people that appreciate how difficult it can be and just want their car fixed right no matter how long it takes. Personally I just try to under promise and over deliver so everybody is happy.

It's part of the main rail where the crossmember, airbag mount, and upper control arm mount tie together. Just hard to tell with it seperated like it is in the pic.

Looking nice, can't wait to see the chassis on wheels. I'm expecting my mild rear (step) PB dropmember in next week;)......I have been patiently waiting. I hope to achieve the crispness you have on you frame. I like the look and texture of the John Deer blitz black paint and I 'm contemplating on using it for my entire frame......been dusting off the old painting skills with paint guns from Harbor Freight. I figure the right mix of paint and harder should do the frame well. Again, looking good!!
