I thought about it. Most of that stuff is 1/4 ton correct? I just sold a 67 cj6 that didn't run maybe a year ago wish I still had it. It had axles transfer case three speed. It would have made things easy.

Sorry I didn't get this sooner. My drum face to drum face is 63 1/2" +/- 1/4" my best measurement without removing the rear wheels.

No, those are mid-size 1/2 tons. Axles are wider than CJs. Earlier ones had the same 5-lug pattern as CJs, but later on they went to the GM 6-lug pattern. You just need the front axle, unless you want to change ratios or have issues with the original rear.

c Terris 11-02-2016 09:32 AM

Ok. Thanks ho455. I didnt know that about the axles. Do you know what era jeeps off hand if not I can look it up. Also boththe front spindles and the rear axles are now 5 lug on my truck. It has a disc brake conv. In the front. The rear axles has shock mounts that arent being used so im going to guess its not original. The shock mounts are bolted to the leaf spring mount. Someone im aure had a great time piecing this thing together.

The disks were added after I thought about how often I pull a trailer. Crappy photo of the dana 60 rear as installed.

not to sound like a big prick but your rear suspension has some bad stuff going on there .

double stacked blocks = bad stuff .

then the unbolted wedges with double stacked blocks = bad stuff.

try and make new or get premade blocks with angle you need and hight and swap them in place .

seen to many bad things happen with stacked blocks and those style un secured wedges you have on the bottom of the napco made lift blocks .

My dad called those June Buggy's. I haven't seen one working since I was in junior high. They had pretty much gone away by then as most of them were made out of WWII government surplus 6x6's that had the big winch behind the cab. Folks would move one of the rear axles forward as close to the cab as possible, chop the frame off, and make an arch( not as nice as that one has) out of the piece cut off and go logging. We had part of one out behind the barn that we played on as kids. That one is pretty nice shape it still has glass in it.
Thanks for the memories.

I remember all the WWII surplus trucks in logging when I was a kid. I guess this is a 2wd June Bug kinda rig:

Speaking of June Bugs, I remember doodlebugs also, mostly on farms. I want one...or to build one. Screw rat rods, come rolling up driving a doodlebug and you'll steal the show

update on one posted way back on post #34 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...6&postcount=34

my current boss purchased that truck after that listing ended on c-list . it was for say for much less on ebay were he got it . drove it all the way back from nj to upstate ny  took a little bit .

she got a quick check over and repaint to black and lettered up for work . she was used a hand full of times over the years but as we all know the 72-older trucks have massive rust out problems on the cabs at the drip channels . this old girl had the same problems and was no longer viable for repair on the cab .

so she was more of a lawn ornament for a few years as a billboard in the lawn .

then come along the new life blood for its major organs to live on .

1982 c-60 super clean and run great ..... after looking and measuring both it was a basic swap / bolt in deal . so game on we flipped/flopped parts and now the napco driveline axle's & transfer case live again .

she has the Rockwell t223 t-case and napco axles with 7.20 gears and open diff's both .

just a few pics . . . didn't post all the hard swap over pics as we know what that is . I even had re-pop stickers made for the dash from the orignals out of the old cab .

figured some of you guys might like to know what happened to some of the old big 4x4 iron . enjoy :sumo::ito:

Its been a little while since i've posted about doing the 4x4 conversion instead of buying a napco. Since then i've done a lot of research. There is a lot of info out there if you look long enough. First off. There is a website that makes body mount braket conversion kits from 73-80 ish chevy truck chassis' to pretty much any 50's era truck. They are called ez swap. Still not sure what im doing wether its body swap on to a donor chassis or axle swap from the donor truck. Either way i am purchasing a 79 k30 roller this weekend. Solid chassis and axles. Looks to be 14 bolt rear and the guy said it was a dana 60 front but looks like the dana 44. Either way. Should be a good parts truck and a good start.

dana 60 front has 4 bolts or studs/nuts were a ball joint would be on a dana 44 or corp 10 bolt. also has 2 bolts on the pumkin side were a u-bolt would be on the dana 44 or corp 10 bolt.

super fast way to spot a true k30 frame is no outside rear shocks to the frame . k30 frames have inner shocks on the rear to clear the springs being closer to the frame .

c Terris 02-07-2017 11:17 AM

Thanks. Ill double check it. I think it was u bolts not studs. It really doesnt matter to me. Im not looking for anything specific. Just want matching gearing and something beefier than a dana 30
