Found this on a vintage camper for sale site. That slide in is a long as a school bus! Says it's a '66 model too!

ttt with a nice vintage pic of a 65 C20/Alaskan combo that I don't believe I've seen before!
EDIT: Although... I do have to admit, while I don't mind a camper that exceeds the bed length, I am not fond of the style when just the 'between the wheel wells' part of the camper sticks out past the end of the bed. Looks a little unfinished. Prefer a cabover that hangs across both ends, but if I had a nice Alaskan, would prefer the 8' model.

It's well known that tornadoes and trailer parks don't mix. I think the same thing can be said about Toronados and trailers.
I still give it an A for effort !

Because the OP was not specific enough, you get a pass. However, this runs the risk of watering down the thread.

To get back on course. Note, "Custom" package trucks came with white painted bumpers and hubcaps, unless the "chrome" package was ordered as a additional option. This C 20 has 17.5 tubeless tires on solid one piece rims.

Wow, that truck sold on ebay just a couple months ago, for under $5,000 or $6,000.

I actually had the same thought, but was unsure if it's the same truck.

We'll see if it sells. ;)

Long overdue for a ttt! Here's one that I believe sold mid-last year if I recall ?? Don't recall asking price. It was pretty nice and well equipped. It sported the slide-out rear bumper that also had the nice little additional step welded on - so no need for draggin around stairs, steps stools, fold-downs, etc.

These two were at torque fest a couple weeks ago. (I stole these picks from the teal trucks instagram...) I was to overwhelmed to snap many pictures.

I dI'd take a few of my truck with my gem top and vintage awning setup. I hope you guys like it.

I like it! Are you sure on the 70's vintage? I would've guessed 60's.

I would have too, but it was purchased around the late 70s by the looks of that ford in the background. The guy I bought it from tells me he used to go camping with his parents in it, and his dad just recently passed. It has been sitting g for the last few years now.

Do you know the weight of the camper? Generally, campers are too heavy for 1/2 tons, but luckily its the 8' model, which is considerably lighter than larger versions.

Figuarus 08-12-2017 11:53 AM

Re: Pictures of 1960-66 campers please

I don't know for sure. I'm gonna go get some tie anchors and take it to the scale sometime in the next few days. It actually doesn't "feel" that heavy when driving, but it definitely could use a rear sway bar

Yes, loving the truck! What kind of hat is the fisherman wearing? He looks like a trendy hipster from today. I guess those truck camper dudes were always waaay ahead of the curve. Ha!

To be honest, wasn't zooming in on the attire, but this '65 has the last of the 3 piece 15" wheels ( probably built in late '64 or early '65, replaced with 16" 2 piece in mid '65 ). Unforunately, seeing a vehicle like this today is a rareity, unless we are looking at oem4me's, Sodly's or 60-66's collection. By the way, I like the contrast between the white trim paint in molding and white caps, even on a lighter color like Fawn.

Love the campers. How rare is the 64-65 Custom Camper long bed step sides? I rarely see them.

jocko 09-22-2019 09:12 PM

Re: Pictures of 1960-66 campers please

There were no 64s, but a 65 long step custom camper would be very rare (65 was the first year, not many made, most commonly as fleetsides).
