Can't think of many things better then hearing a truck fire up after a long period of time.

Thanks guys! It was very exciting to finally get her started. I was dreading whatever problems were going to crop up with trying to get her started but it went really well.

I picked up some things at the store today. Hoping to get her moving on Saturday. Will have more pics and maybe video then, so stay tuned!

Things haven't been going so well. Going to be pulling the carb off for another look and restabbing the distributor to hopefully get her running again.

Congrats on getting it running! That's a huge step, because it goes from being a cadaver in the garage to a real, running vehicle.

I love this truck. The body style, the stance, the wheels/tires, the patina. It's perfect.

Ran outta time and money last year. Kid #2 arrived in February this year. Hoping to get back on it soon.

Time to see that jewel in person. We both showed up to the vintage truck show without trucks, I think we need to make it right! :chevy:

Ethel is now for sale in the classifieds. Still a little bit of a project truck.

Re: Ethel: The Legend Continues...

Took her to the exhaust shop on Monday. Dual 4.5" round mufflers dumped in front of the axle. Sounds good and can finally hear the gear drive! She ran great on the way over but ran hot on the way back, even with the electric fan running. Checked the radiator and coolant was low so topped it off. Starter isn't engaging right, takes a lot of noisy tries to get her started. Looking into those issues on my next available evening. Only other things are an alignment and finishing up some wiring (fuel gauge, speedo sensor, headlight relays, etc.). Not planning to install the air management system anytime soon.

Still for sale too, look in the classifieds.

Re: Ethel: The Legend Continues...

so did you modify the bed floor? or does the rear end just rest against it when u air out the rear

Alvin 12-14-2015 11:35 PM

Re: Ethel: The Legend Continues...

I put taller bump stops in the back to keep the bed off the axle.

And Ethel has been sold and moved to Indiana.
