That one there seems to be a ramp truck. I have never used one before but I guess they are pretty nice. I worked at a gas station and we had a 99 Chevy 3500HD with a 19 foot Jerr-Dan bed on it and I liked the way that truck works.

It has a home made rollback bed on it. failrly cool truck lil rough around the edges but it gets the job done.

Yeh,and it seems to have axles or hubs from some European truck. Or,they use those axles on GM trucks over there? I've seem pictures of GM trucks with those before

That white truck has chrome Budds, but I don't see them for sale anymore. The red truck has stainless simulators, which are covers either held on by the lugs or snap on and cover the lugs. With your disc brake 9/16s stud truck you can buy any SAE pattern aluminum dually wheels. Those simulators are great for a work truck. They are cheap and don't require major upkeep. Also,no matter how you rotate or change wheel position you always have the shiny side out.

I remember my dads last set of chrome budds on his 83...all i can remember was the logo/decal on the centercap, but not the name of the wheel.....they had a decal that had a side profile of a Knight's helmet with like a red feather coming out the top???

special-K thanks, I'm pretty proud of it.
C10-C90 Bill, thanks, yes its a holmes 440. its a later model than the truck, but I like it. this truck is kinda special to me, 1st this is the biggest project my son and I have ever done together, he did ALOT of work on this truck, 2nd I named the truck after a friend of mine (I got the bed from him) who passed away last year. Oh the trucks name is big Earnest.. Coop

special-K 01-01-2013 08:42 AM

Re: Tow Truck/Rollback/Hauler Pics

Earnest huh? Well, that makes this truck all the more special, coupled with you and your son making it happen. You do realize Ernest is Holmes' name, right?

coops714x4 01-01-2013 01:01 PM

Re: Tow Truck/Rollback/Hauler Pics

Yes I do, my friends name is Earnest Thomas. I am having the name put where the "Holmes 440" emblem was.

This thread is back from the dead. My wife saw this rollback in town today. Supposedly it was last painted 28 years ago. It has a 402 big block and factory AC. I wish I could have seen it in person.

Wow , very cool . The green Holmes 440 with the tapered sides on the body is a sonic body . Came out in 79 or 80 . My 1st wrecker was a 69 gmc with the 18" wheels , tach , buddy seat & a Holmes 220 ( same as 440 but electric winch ) then a 66 50 series with a Holmes 500 & the rest is history . This year is the 100th anniversary of Holmes & I'm still playing with wreckers ! Lol.
