Spent a few hours stripping my passenger door down to the bare metal along with the door jamb. Took care of some rust issues before they get out of hand. Replaced the door check, and wire wheeled my sill plates and got them repainted.

Worked on the brake pedal push rod and setting the booster to master cylinder clearance. All set up on my bench, so when I get the truck back from paint jail install should be a breeze.

Canyon Blue and Olympic White, I like this shade better than the Varsity Blue from '60 - I felt it was too dark for my taste.

started out with a good weekend.....after changing out a bad fuel pump that has kept the old girl sitting for far to long, went to start her to find the battery dead....no biggie. Charged her up and nothing, battery was dead. So after another $150 bucks for a new battery finally got her running and spent the weekend quite happy, drove her to get her washed and gassed and whatnot. Started to drive her to work this morning and almost there heard a huge boom from under the hood and smoke started pouring out. After looking under the hood, the upper radiator hose burst, completely blew in half and sent fluid everywhere. Another $40 for new hose/fluid. Now I get to wash out the engine bay tonight because I cant tell if the smell is coming from the fluid that covered my engine block or if I messed something up when it blew.:waah:

Mid year 1960, and all year 1961. I have the paint chips card somewhere. The pain ship in Mississippi was able to do a direct match from the old paint code. I have no metallic in it.

Thanks. I looked on www.autocolorlibrary.com for years 57-63 and they don't have it listed. I like the fact it's a solid color, as I don't care for metallics.

Had a productive weekend working on the truck.

New speedo gear and housing, new speedo cable,
Finished aftermarket gauge wiring and installation,
New fuel lines, PO ran rubber throughout the truck
New shocks all the way around
New rear coils (stock height) PO had melted the old ones to lower the truck. Also had to weld in a new base for the passenger coil due to some rust.

Need to put on a parking brake and should be road ready.

With the threat of rain this past Saturday, the local Cruise-in canceled out, so I took her to dinner at Rips on the Lake in Mandeville. I was able to get a good picture looking down.

I finally finished my engine....406 cubic inch, scat crank, eagle 5.7 rods,
9.1 Keith Black pistons, comp cams 256 xe, gm vortec heads, edelbrock rpm intake, 700r4, 3.73 12 bolt gears. I built this engine for strong low end and mid range torque and to run on regular gas because the premium is so expensiive and will keep increasing I am sure. I will know soon if my patriot ceramic headers for a camaro will fit. I have 2 1/2 exhaust and Dynomax mufflers. Hoping for a strong running street truck to drive anywhere.

Finally found a vacuum guage...new chrome bezel and new face plate.
I have decided the back ground looks better the fawn color instead of the
black. Changed all the bulbs to number 1895 which are brighter than
the 57s. Extended all the wires to make it easy to pull the cluster when needed. After I make sure all is working will install in the dash.
