After ripping the god awful wiring that was in it, the new sony HU and Kenwood speakers go in. Onlinecarstereo FTMFW as far as speakers, those kenwoods are normally around 110-120 and I payed 68. Disk brakes are close enough to done that I'm saying; The disk brakes are done! Just gotta toss in pads, pack the driverside bearings with grease (ran out last night) and bleed the system.

Is your six lug hubs the same bolt pattern as the new six lug Chevy's? I'm wondering if you can run new 2007 wheels with your bolt pattern.Thanks

Yup, thats infact what my bling wheels actually fit, a late model GM truck. Mind you, back spacing and hub size can be a problem though (as mentioned a few pages back)

Today:
Fab'd up a new bracket for the kick down cable. Engine and drive train are 100% http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...0/DSC00102.jpg Began welding some 1/8th in steel plating to back up all the seat and seat belt bolts. With the floor and the 1/8th in steel body washer backing it, there's close to 1/2-2/3 in worth of steel backing all my bolts. Needless to say my ass is staying put in a wreck. It's much more solid than the factory mounts. Have new(er) tires mounted half way on the rims and balanced, but dismounted the top bead to paint the wheels. The other two wheels get the new(er) tiers and mounted/balanced later this week. That looks sweet man. I really like the way your stereo is set up, I want to copy it :) and I bet you can't wait to get yours driving. I have a bit longer to wait :( It would sure be cool of we lived closer together, I don't have any one around who like these trucks that is my age

I'm having dreams about it haha..
Although their trippy as hell. The truck is some sort of uncontrollable rocket that takes no power to spin the tires and knows not of what a straight line is. Doesn't have very good brakes either. :lol: Move to Texas, the weather's better, the chicks are hotter, the trucks are meaner, and the Mexican food is fresh. |

So new inner tie rods seem to be in order. Gotta get a new drivers seat belt. The heat of welding the backing plates killed the retractor mechinism when the heat traveled up into it's chassis. One of those random WTF things. ****ing damnit, one step forwards and two steps back, you just don't get far like that... |

The CST10 took it's maiden voyage today. Chirping 2nd gear at times too :lol: Took it for a run to break in the brakes. Found a nice half mile stretch of road and opened it up, all four barrels. Not as much low end as I was expecting, but she pulls nice and hard all the way up through the RPM range, chirping firmly into 2nd. Didn't do any hard launches, so I can't tell you how long it can smoke'em through 1st :lol: Only problem is it idles pretty lean... But, hell, it's got a bad ass idle and it's not lean enough that it's causing problems, so might just leave it be for now. Then drove it a short ways to Jack in the Box, and reveled in the looks. The truck rides really well for a truck, and stops nice and hard. Still running the drum MC and Prop valve, but were ordering the disk brake propvalve next, and an MC as well. Monday it goes up to the dealership my dad works at for inspection and an alignment. When I come up thursday for my Bday party with the family, I'm bringin' her home.. And a date on friday.. :lol: Words cannot express how awesome this moment is. 2 years man, two years. |

Thats badass man, Nohting like rumbling into the local fast food joint and gettin the looks and stares. I got some strange looks after I put the Yenko stripes on. I really like your stance. I need to change out to some 5 inch drop springs. I just hope my tires don't rub with more drop

Congrats on getting it on the road. I remember the feeling of the first drive with a 1980 camaro I restored with the help of a friend....first time out was a mix of hearing all kinds of weird noises and worrying with a whole lot of stupid grin on my face. |

In other news, the Chevy was driven home last night. All went extraordinarily well except for the steaming heater core. So, no AC or heater at the moment..
Something I can say. With a full throttle and massive wheel spin, it hits 0-60 in about 8 seconds, given it kept nose to nose with my dad's Grand Prix GT, which pulls 0-60 with traction control on in about 8 seconds. Not bad for a 4500 lbs truck. It seems to have 4.10 gears, awesome (crap!)... It hums rather high at freeway speeds with such short gearing. I probably can't hit 100 with out risking the motor. But, my dad still has a 700R4 transmission in storage, that'd give a short 1st gear (with 4.10 gears, it'd pull stumps out of rock), and an overdrive, it'd haul ass, and cruise much better. For my birthday, I my dad installed a new grille in while it was up at the dealership this past week. It looks sweeeeeeeeet... Got some weather stripping as well, since my doors are gone basically.. lol. More pics tomorrow, and some sweet video of course. 8) Todays update went like this: My friends loved, ritch kids envied it (atleast they stared at it gawkingly). It will melt the tires hard through 1st gear. But for the most part, it's just easy cruising. The 1st full tank of gas in the tank clogged up the fuel filter I had on the line, and in the carb. So it didn't make it home quite. 1st time it left me in the middle of an intersection (restarted it 3 times while rolling off a green light, pulled to a no-go lane), but got it to fire up and pulled into a parking lot. Ripped out the fuel filter on the line, and it was of course gone to hell. Limped over to walmart, of course they didn't carry the fuel filter I needed (that was at the other walmart), and niether did autozone! So I went home on the q-jet filter and it started stalling on my exit, was easily able to limp into the gas station and let it be for now. My dad is in the dealership roadside truck and is hitting every parts store he sees to find some filters and we'll shove them in and drive it back home. All things considered, I love it. It's a ****ing beast, no way to say it. Can't wind-it-up on the free way but with 4.10s it pulls hard up through the gears. We'll be swapping in a 700R4 in the near future for even more earth moving torque in first gear, and still can cruise the highway in something other than the slow lane. It's also fun getting asked "How fast does that go?" by a kid in a Bimmer. :) And it can do some major burn outs when the carb doesn't act up. |
