I know this post is ancient but I can tell you what a manual throttle was valuable for. My uncle showed me how to stack hay bales from the fields into the truck all alone (gee, thanks?). Drive to the hayfield, put truck in granny gear, roll the window down, step out of the moving truck and walk beside the truck and throw the bales into the bed as you reach in the window to steer the truck to the next bale. The manual throttle was used to fine tune the truck speed to your throwing pace.

Not sure why the colors look different in the picture. Josjunk may be right, but I thought it was because of the two buildings I was in front of, I see the reflection/ shadow on the box of one building and on the front fender of the other building. I thought I remember someone mentioning this awhile back and saying that the beds were painted on another paint assembly line. I haw the slightest clue. Next time up to see the truck I will pull it out into the daylight and look again.

A picture from that day of pictures showing how the buildings perfectly aligned with the box yet proves nothing. I am not the original owner, I was only maybe 2 in 69 lol so I do not know all the history of it.

Here is my original paint K/20, my doors are lighter also. This is my best guess as to why they are like this. I have seen it quite a bit.

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

Back in the '60s, cars could have what appeared to be different shades when comparing the front sheet metal with the rest of the body. Everything but that front sheet metal was primed a different color. The primer colors were red and black (don't recall which way it went), and colors that don't hide the primer well, like yellow and silver, were the most obvious. It is possible that the paint on these trucks has been polished enough to make a difference visible. I'm only offering up a possibility. I don't know how the factory primed these trucks.

Hi. I'm normally over in 60-66 section, so I'm totally just crashing this discussion. I thought I saw something once this weird purple colour was something to do with the RCMP (the mounties). Not sure if I saw that on this board, or if was in a local (Saskatchewan) for sale ad at some time.

My truck is a 1970 cst two tone metallic gold. dark gold #560 on the roof only, and medium gold #526 on the remainder and interior. From what i can see, the dark gold #560 was a 1970 only color and only used on trucks. How rare actually is this paint? My truck has not been restored yet, but about 40 years of crappy paint jobs have mostly peeled away to reveal the original below. I intend to repaint original, and heard two tone metallics were especially rare.

I think gold/drk gold would have been a good looking combination. Not common or we'd see more of them.

Wow...can't say I've ever seen that combo before...pretty cool!

I'm thinking that dark gold/gold combo will look pretty nice. Is it an original 4x4?

The Vermillion Red was pretty rare

So the primary paint color looks lighter where it was painted over the white. If you look at most dark colored trucks with a white roof you will see this. My green K/20 is exactly the same

This makes perfect sense!!!

Blackfyre, 560 is factory "Custom Two Tone" code that gives you code 527 Dark Gold Poly as the secondary (roof) and code 526 Med Gold Poly as the primary color (body).

Code 561 is the opposite with the Med Gold Poly on the roof, Dark Gold Poly on the body.

527 is a 1970 only color, so, in that respect, it's kinda rare. The Custom Two Tones were not that common, so the combo is even nicer to have (in my opinion). 526 was held over through 1972, but not available in the Custom Two Tone configuration (and it may have been a GMC-only color, but don't quote me on that). Although there have been a couple 560/561 paint trucks popping up on CL in the past 6 months or so, they are far from commonplace.

Btw, per your SPID, your truck was originally a 2WD truck.

Not factory 2 tone but done somewhat in the 2 tone styling adding the lighter green. The darker olive I believe is the original paint though.

Yes, it was a 2wd, i bought the body from a junk yard, and put it on the 4wd chassis, it is year correct, just not 4wd. Which really doesnt matter to me, my 4wd body was rotted beyond saving and the 2wd body was just that, no frame at all, i got that body for $750. I couldnt complain. At least it all got a second chance at life, the vin tag was missing off the original body and the glove box door had been changed, or i would have kept it the way it came factory, as that WAS the original 4wd cab (it still had the 4wd shift pattern sticker on the roof). It doesnt matter to me, it is a toy for the sand dunes, not an investment. Its not at all stock, its a 70, 6 in. Skyjacker lift, 400sb with around 450hp 465lbft, th400 with 2000stall manual shift valve body, np205 case, fully locked 12bolt rear, dana44 front with yukon4140 chromoly front axle shafts. If i dump the gas from a stop it will spin those 35in. Tires all the way through first gear (not something i do often, tires arent cheap). Originally the truck was a 250i6, 4speed sm465, np205, 12bolt rear, dana 44 front. Medium blue body and interior. But i like the gold 2tone metallic... its just a toy. Thank you for the paint info though, it wa s interesting.

Attachment 1893779 I was going through this old tread and found this. I worked at Weddington's Sunoco on South Blvd. in Charlotte, NC. We were the maintenance depot for EZ Haul. I bet I put in about a hundred motor mounts in those C30 trucks. The fleet was 69 and 70 C30 and C50's. Pretty much a full time job doing tuneups, oil changes etc. Nice green!!Attachment 1893785
