We got the inner fenders and radiator support painted. We also got the steering wheel on and the gauges fitted.

Front and rear sway bars installed on my 63 short wide. What a difference. I don't have to slow down for those little girly turns now. Handles almost as well as my 94 Mustang GT.

After over 2 years we uncrated the 427. We are waiting for a few parts and hopefully will install the engine and tranny next week.

Wow! That's not a truck, it's a ROCKET SHIP!

My humble inline 6 230 was installed last Wednesday and Thursday. Been so excited driving it I forgot to post the progress.

An old truck with a brand new 427, man life is good. :metal:

Life will be perfect when I can drive it. It's been a dream of mine for over 40 years. It's been a 5-1/2 year project and when completed I'll have about 3 times more money in it than I did my house when I bought it many years ago.
But still less than a new truck of today, and this one won't depreciate!
Now if I count my time, that's a different story.

Looking good! There's still a part of me that wishes I'd kept mine stock.
I love them both ways.

Where can one find that rear stainless piece. How does it tie in with the sail? Looks great, just what I need to separate the two tone.

You can pick one up at your local Expensive and Really Hard to Find Store.;)
Or search you local junk yards.

I was about a week away from fabricating my own when I stumbled across this one at the Pomona Swap Meet several years ago in a pile of Cadillac stainless trim pieces. It's basically my one jewel of a find going to that swap meet.

The trim piece wraps around the ends of the B-pillar sail molding similar to how the front fender side molding wraps around the spear point piece.

So I assume nobody is reproducing the rear cab moulding?

Sorry for the sarcasm. No they are not reproduced.

Unfortunately, as forestb mentioned, it is not being reproduced. Also, there were two different types for the '60-'61 GMC and the Chevys up to around model year '63 (depending on production schedule and assembly plant) according to which type of sail molding was used. My truck was assembled in Oakland, CA (on some scheduled changes, the California plants seemed to lag behind, or it took a little longer to go through inventory than their Detroit or east coast factory counterparts). I see them pop up from time to time on the usual classified and auction sites, but they always get big money for them...the last one I saw went for $300+.

Here's some additional info - the first article about a deluxe GMC, then scroll down for the article on the cab moldings: http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/blog/i.../trim-1955-66/

Actually thought it was funny. Nothing older than mid 70,s in junkyard around here. They don't hold anything long till it goes to the crusher..

Yep, now you know why I was contemplating fabricating one. I got mine for $20...$40 total with the $10 entry and $10 parking.
