Maybe I will use more "spring" and a dropped spindle in the future

What is the gear on the inside of the rotor for? ABS? I am not familiar with new stuff.

After checking many reviews on HarborFreight winches, I saved my scrap metal money, and picked up a 6000lb one for the trailer.
-
Now gonna find a nice tool box to enclose it in, and fab up some mounts. I just used some chain for this haul ...

Anyone wanna talk about my new F#rd tow rig ??

I would love to! I am a ford guy who got a little lost. I love Ford, Ford is my favorite! But for the size/looks Ford does not really have a good equivalent to the suburban so I figured I'd venture out and see what fun I can have(still have my Fords) as I am not one of those A-holes who truly thinks anything other than his brand is crap. But Ford will always be my home base.

That was a temporary winch mount when I first used it.

Did you read it newb ?

infinite-foamies 05-02-2014 12:32 AM

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

Yes I did read it, but being temporary does not change the danger it imposes. I am not saying you don't know what you are doing I was simply trying to further what I have seen working with my father over the years.

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

AGAIN .... it was a temporary attachment.

The only danger I see is the fact is a cheap China HF winch.

You tell can it is brand new in the pics.

I was solo, and needed the burb on the trailer.

I've been here for a long time ... ask anyone who has been here that knows my skills .... and they will confirm my fab skills.

My tools/equipment/steel at my shop, and I was at home .....

Thanks for your concern, Though.

95 thru 97 OBS Ford truck.

This one in particular was a 95 Powerstroke.

The ring is for ABS, as these rotors were intended for a newer Chevy truck.

Was there anything else you are concerned about ??

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

I apologize as I did not mean to offend you. I was honestly asking because I was not sure if the chain being so vertical prevents it from twisting. Looking back I did not word it very well.

Nice Score on the fenders.

WELL GUYS ... I little more forward progression has been made, with a little change of direction.

I have been swamped for a very long time with the business, and this weekend marks the "start" of my Burban build .... AGAIN !

A longtime friend of mine who lives about 2hrs away, is the kinda friend who is a motivational type, and is always able to light a  under my a$$ and get things moving, as well as lend a hand to get things done.

He does epoxy floors for a living, and his work placed him close to me this weekend ...

So the fun began yesterday afternoon .....

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

As you know, I picked up a 94 LT1 B-body for a drivetrain donor.

After being intrigued with E911managers build thread (SWB on a Caprice Frame) IT WAS A NO BRAINER !!

The Burban and B-body share the same wheelbase.

Coils, mounted drivetrain, fuel system, P/S, A/C comp., etc .... DONE !

I'd rather fab body mounts instead of drivetrain swap mounts....plus, I can address the underside rot as well .... and lose the X-frame as well

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

The B-body was pulled in out of the heat ....

Way to go John and friend, Looking good loosing the X-frame is a good way to go. The seats in the Roadmaster / Caprice were comfortable if they are in good shape, Whats the new Name for the burb.....Burnice....Burbmaster, maybe not. Tuned in for this.

I would grab that brake booster before you get rid of the body. That one might work with my booster bracket.
