Re: "Rice Rocket'

id definately buy it back.. my dad sold a junker 67 stepper and even being a crappy truck i wish i still had it.. so if it was mine id buy it back because you can always run around with no bed that being said thats fine here in kansas just gotta wire up lights.. i picked up a 68 long bed for $350 no rot what so ever just surface rust.. i just pm you about it.. but ya im a nut and i like fixing wrecked stuff haha its in my blood.. at the body shop we had to do a frame swap on a 07 f150 and its not too bad.. just time consuming.. so being 40 years old i betcha its alot easier then that 07. keep us posted my friend sorry to see that happen..

ya i know what ya mean and id gladly share the "skills" i learned from doing my truck. i didnt know squat at first but the best learning experience is just do it yourself.. i plan on getting another 67-72 and try things different it seems i did everything the hard way. but let us know how the insurance goes

Dang I hate to see this happen. Hopefully it'll all work out and you'll get a monster insurance check. Let me know if there's anything you need when you start to rebuild.

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Well turn'd out he had insurance, well his GF did...

So Im assuming it'll pay the tow bill, and a rental car maybe :) Cant you take those to the dragstrip lol...never mind.

So what is the next step, the adjuster is "supposed" to come out tom. to look at my truck...

Re: "Rice Rocket'

just don't sign anything till you know for sure what it will take to fix the truck.

oldblue1968chevy 04-08-2010 07:54 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Well I just added up the receipts and added the total cost of what I paid for the truck....do you guys wanna know? Its up 1K from what it was this time last year...

The insurance guy (not mine, theirs) said it was good to have all the receipts for the truck...

Re: "Rice Rocket'

The frame might be OK, but it's being twisted sitting like that. Put some jack stands under it so the truck can sit level, and then see if it squares up.

Good luck mayne! If all else fails, a new trailing arm and bed are nothing.

tim21391 04-13-2010 04:52 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

since your a pink name. pm me i got something else you might need!!

oldblue1968chevy 04-13-2010 05:24 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Hope its just a trailing arm and bedside..I need to get it square? huh may do that this evening..

Well it'll be a week tomorow and still no real news..this is rediclous, Seems like the guy I hit hasnt explained what happned to the insurance adjuster or something..were waiting on that. I wish I could work on my truck 75* and sunny every day!!! Well im so bored im going to go mow, i'll pm ya tim.

texanidiot25 04-14-2010 02:24 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

I'd put the frame on a jack stand so it sits straight. These things flex naturally, but letting it sit there flexing may not be the best for it.

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Adjuster just came out..I was on the bus..(fun..)

Dad said he seemed to think they guy will total it out...im about to pull the bed off ill let yall know how it goes..if I get some measurements and cant tell can someone cross reference them to their good striaght frame

its on jackstands now...

whatchall think they'll give me if they total it? and whats itt worth to buy back?

NTR72GMC 04-14-2010 05:49 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

If its at your home they may just give you a check and let you keep it. I have had a few friends that they have totaled out their cars and the insurance co. just lets them keep it. Sometimes they would rather just be done with it than try and send it to auction.

oldblue1968chevy 04-14-2010 07:02 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Lol..

Well, Ive got all the bed bolts off waiting on dad to get on the phone to get the tractor and pick it off..maybe they'll be lazy and leme keep it if I take the bed off..

Well, Depending on what I get $ wise, I found a 67 swb fleet custom for 1500, and on the bus saw a 71 72 2 tone green white just like tims' but with 350 (according to badges). Ops brb going to truck
