To protect the wood I decided to use Total Boat Marine Gleam Varnish Gloss. I like it because you can do like 3 coats a day with an hour or 3 hours between
coats depending on the weather. I used a foam brush to apply it.

Thanks. Its red oak. I wanted walnut, and the lumber yard scared me when they gave me the price. Lumber is expensive, I did not save much by doing my own bed wood but I like it.

Thanks for the information. I just have the stock pine that came with the truck. Still has to be stained and cleared. I am a long ways away from where you are at. Steve

Well I got some of the wood installed, but I have to stop here until I have some of my buddies come over to help install the bed on the truck. I have access to the bolts that mount it to the frame at this point.
