Project "Gold" 1969 shorty...the last one!!

Here she is....the last 67-72 build for me...for a good while anyway. I brought this truck home about 6 months ago and she has been waiting quietly in the shadows for me to get rid of a few other vehicles and get a few of the "spare parts builds for buds" out of the shop. I plan on starting the build this weekend.

1969 C-10
250 I-6
Powerglide
Almost no rust at all!

We are replacing the I-6 with a 350 we have been putting together, adding power steering, lowering it 2/4...possibly 3/5 if I dont like the 2/4, BFG radial T/A,s 275-60-15 on stock 15 x 8 steelies with the original to the truck hub caps, 2 1/2 exhaust with Flowmaster 40's, rear slider, new grill, chrome bumpers and an "Old Air" kit. Unfortunatley the cheap overspray is starting to peel so it will be off to paint once the engine is in it. We should have her done in about 3 months....Pics to follow.

I have really enjoyed being a part of this build. A few weekends ago a group of us got together and rebuilt the 4 bolt 350...now waiting to drop it in in front of that powerglide. This is going to be a fun truck!

Poo Poo 6 cylinder......That is funny!

You should put a 71-72 grill on it. I have 2 69's but I prefer the new grill combo. Looking forward to seeing progress.

Its just a stock looking 350. It is still on the stand awaiting paint and accessories to be bolted on. Bed rails are coming off.

I have had my share of 71-72's and 67-68's but currently I prefer the look of the 69-70 grille... I also thought it would be fitting that since my very first 67-72 over 100 of them ago was a 69 and this being my last one for a good long while, it was only fitting to be a 69.

As far As the "Poo Poo" 6 cyl., there is a story behind why we call it that, other than the obvious. One of my good friends was visiting from out of town one weekend and I had happened to have just brought home another truck to play with for a while. When i popped the hood and he saw the 6 banger his nosed curled up like there was a bad smell in the air and he smurked.."6 cyl"???. From that point on its been the curled lip bad smell look every time we see a 6 cyl.

Cool project!
Interesting exhaust routing on the outside of the frame rail.

This is the 3rd or 4th one Ive had that some brain surgeon ran the exhaust that way. I brought one home one day that the exhaust was made of fence poles. It will be gone next weekend when I put it back on the lift to lower it!

Yep...it will be a fun build....none of the purists who wanted to keep her original came up with the funds to buy it.

Not a purist here.... I've already got one Stovebolt next I'm in line for some V8 power. :)

Can't wait to see what you have in store for it.

Nice build. You have another great truck to start with. Are you going back with the original colors?

I am torn about the color...but at the moment we are going back original with a slight twist to the gold....not as "gold".

That sounds pretty cool to me. Good luck deciding. I know how hard it can be when you are trying to come up with something new but different.

Its off the exhaust shop in the morning.....shop owner looked at the 2.5 manifolds and didnt see any problem with making the bends. We might hear it run tomorrow!

Home from the exhaust shop.....2.5 straight dump corvette style manifolds, 2.5 dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40's. Ive got all the fluids in it, oil system primed, plugs in, wires on and about ready to crank. Put the fan and shroud on in tomorrow and HOPEFULLY hear it run. LET THE RUINING CONTINUE!!!

FYI....all the threads that talk about 2.5 straight dump manifolds being hard to run in our trucks with the engine in the stock V8 possition.......HORSE PUCKY!

It was a group effort today and we got a lot done. Brakes on "Old School" ride, a few things on project "Race Truck", started some cab corner work with OrangeCrush1970 and drove round town in the ruined gold truck!.

You really "ruined" that truck good!
I might have missed it,... but what's the specs on the engine?
