Who needs to lower these beauties, they're long enough to look lowered already. Show us pics of your longhorn. I've included a pic of mine (was dads), a 1972 custom camper.

I love those Longhorns. There, you "heard" my love. If I owned one I'd show it. I have pictures of other people's I'll show once owner's have had a chance to show.
Ok,for now, here is one that belongs to a gentleman in Ohio who is not a member. This was at Carlisle Trucks back in '07. I had asked him to bring it by for me to see. It's a nice one,but not as nice as that Dark Olive beauty! |
Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Thanks renokeene and Special K. The paint isn't as nice as the photo makes it look. It's in great shape but there are lots of little "use" scratches on it. So only a few longhorn pics posted... Woooo hooo, the selling price on mine just went up, hahaha! Hey Jasonsl1 in Gallup! Yes, I "heard" your love on longhorns... Mooooo Funny
Beautiful trucks posted so far! |

Not great pics, but I got the lower molding on the Longhorn.

Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Special-K, nothing to do with Longhorns, but, waiting in the wings, I've got a pretty nice yellow and white 69 big block half ton lwb, and these yellow trucks you have thrown our there have lit my fire for the yellow trucks. I think you just caused me more work.

ok, I'll play - have missed a few good Longhorn deals in the past (pic # 3, specifically - I wish to this DAY I'd bought this truck... viewed it in person, a Custom Camper Longhorn Highlander. Ugh. Pic #5 is also another one I wish I hadn't let get away). My garage needs to be longer! Love em.

EDIT: Oops - mistook firstowner's 69 as a longhorn. It's so gorgeous, I accidentally slipped it into the discussion! Sorry. |
Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Ahhh...I think I died and gone to heaven. Nice bunch of Longhorns, fellows :chevy:

Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
heres the one I currently have. Have parted out at least three others that come to mind (a 69 396, a 71 gmc 350, and a 72 cheyenne 402). This one is a 72 gmc 402 auto.

Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
It's funny how some want short beds over long beds, but EVERY ONE wants a long horn, I love em all!!!!!

Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Jocko, that red truck with the camper AND motor cycles brings back great memories. Thats just the type of rig my dad had and we went camping a lot in that truck. The longhorn was made specifically for that exact purpose! Thanks for showing it in its element. It looks quiet at home in the woods where it was made to be. "My garage needs to be longer" good one, at least 8" longer to be exact. And wider for the mirrors.
Special K, I like the pic at salvation mountain. That camper looks so heavy, I'd like one for dads longhorn but I do wonder about the weight. Bruceman, thanks, that's one of my fav pics too. But I got to tell you it was taken at Molas pass, a few mike south of red mtn pass. Same area though. Good looking trucks here. Thanks for the pics |

Doesn't run under its own power yet so you only get a picture on the lift, but here's mine (Custom Camper, not a Longhorn, but same deal). And yep, I'm very fortunate to have a lift and a nice shop (I earned it - not a trust fund baby)... but if it helps, I turn my own wrenches. Well, everything except paint and automatic transmissions, anyway.

By definition all factory C30 Fleetside pickups from 68-72 are Longhorns. C30 Stepsides (9' beds) do not have a catchy sales name. |
Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Really? So you could NOT get a C30 with a regular wheelbase (127)?

C20 was 127" and 133", but not 115" C10 was 115" and 127", but not 133" Attachment 1253876 |
Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
Correct.
CK20's had 127" wheelbase. C20 Longhorns (C30 frame) and all C30 pickups had a 133" wheelbase. C30 chassis cabs were also offered in 157" version as a regular production model. |

Here is one I picked up a little over a year ago. It is a CST/30 and had some nice options such as bucket seats, AC, speed warning and manual throttle.

Since we've got a lot of Longhorn guys on the thread, I'll bring up the nagging issue that has haunted humanity since 1970: the lack of proper valve cover decals. Two examples below. I think these are unique to a 402 Longhorn, or at least that's the ONLY place I've ever seen them.
If I can find a good original set to copy from photos of, I'll do the art and get some reproduced. But I just can't find a good enough original for it to be more than "close". |

Since we're talking Longhorns, I'll throw in this graphic that I made that shows the relative sizes.

Factory 4x4 I made into longhorn may be putting up for sale soon. But hate to. I have GM doors and aftermarket fenders yet to put on.

Re: Time for some longhorn love, show pics
I can't help. The PO rebuilt the big block and had repainted the valve covers. I have an untouched 72 out here with the decal still on it, but it's not a Longhorn.
