65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
This is definitely a budget build I wanna stay with a period correct look, All deluxe trim and emblems, HRF satin charcoal w/all red interior, may go with some steelies, or nostalgic set of 20s such as Coys or AR Torque Thrusts...this will definitely be a cruiser. Right after the sale...all loaded up ready to hit the road http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9750 First time I saw it in the previous owners yard http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9754 The original owner just cut random holes in the bed for whatever reason, we'll fix that tho. http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9751 This is a pic from the previous owners build process...those chrome valve covers were the first thing to go once I got it home http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9752 This is what the rear suspension looked like when I got it (currently being redone by Poypeyes Rod Shop)...gunna do a completely new back half...simple and functional. http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9756 I already picked up a BBW Cab and two new doors for it....I like the BBW much better. http://c10forum.com/forum/picture.ph...pictureid=9757 All of the structual frame work, steering, new bed mounts, brake lines are being addressed as we speak by ///Cody Stoute of Poypeyes Rod Shop in Carencro, LA Will post more pics as we make progress |

After I got it home, cleaned it up, pulled off all the custom purple window tint, added a snazzy seat cover(mexican blanket), and of course tagged it with the Obrien Truckers club plaque that we had made. And a shot of the motor after some clean up work and new valve covers and air cleaner set up.

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Okay guys...fixing to get this thread back going. I've been super busy since coming home from deployment, so sorry about the lack of updates. My plans to make this thing "just a driver" are completely out the window. After messing with this thing for a while I think its my favorite out of all of the trucks I've ever owned. Therefore I'm taking my time and doing this thing the justice it deserves.....BTW are all of my previous pics visible to everyone?
This is my vision for the truck....all original trim with a few things added, slammed on modern sized "Vintage" wheels http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19445 |

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Got the Cab over to the guy for some rust therapy...sorry for the quality of pics..no fancy camera for this guy...I spend all my extra dough on truck parts.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19458 Pass side inner, outer rockers, cab corners and outer floorboards all wrapped up http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19469 |

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Picked up a new bed from a guy here local and got it trimmed to fit and put on.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19450 Then started stripping the paint off of it http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19452 Decided it was easier to disassemble the bed and work on the parts separately. Got the Driver's side bedside down to bare metal and epoxy primed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19457 Decided to just go with a repop tailgate from LMC I was actually surprised at how well it fit and the thickness of the metal. Very happy with it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19471 Sent the bed off with a fellow club member to get some sheet metal work done on the inside of the bed. Also sold all of the old body panels and the small window cab to a friend of mine. We started tearing the truck down and of course it had to rain on us. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19451 |

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Well we got the cab off and took a few measurements to check the previous owners workmanship on the "Z"....needless to say nothing is square and one side of the frame is higher than the other. So we decided to find a new factory frame and splice on the nice back half that Popeye built and just go with a dropmember up front.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19475 Had to sell my vacation to purchase the Porterbuilt, but a friend of mine in Alabama had purchased a complete front kit, and had no plans of starting his build anytime soon. So I picked this stuff up a few hundred bucks cheaper than it sells for and didn't have to pay shipping...so I lucked out!! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19468 Nice untouched frame http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19473 Mine getting ready for surgery http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19461 Most of this will go in the scrap iron pile http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19476 Of course we'll be keeping Popeye's work http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19456 |
Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Getting ready to join together old and new
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19466 Drilled holes to plug weld and plated the backside for added strength http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19464 Got it all back together and slicked out with some chassis saver paint(same crap as POR-15 without the shine) I dig the satin look http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19455 |
Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Dropmember going in....you can also see we boxed in a large portion of the frame
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19459 Modular Big Brake Kit and rear disk conversion from CPP showed up http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19474 Close Up of the rear brake kit installed http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19460 Close Up of the front brakes and the rest of the PB Goodies installed http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19454 Drivers side http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19453 View through the wheels http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19462 Rear http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19470 Got rid of that ugly home made boat tank, replaced it with a rear mount tank kit from LMC Truck http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19467 Complete Chassis with the motor back on laid out....much better than that old junk http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=19463 |
