Re: 1971 C10 Project
the wheels on the bottom pic are sweet....who makes em? i think they would look saweet on my little project
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
Are you going to keep the '73ish bed fenders? It would be a pretty custom look but in my opinion, they don't match the truck. (wheel wells give it away) But then again, I'm not crazy about the look of the newer stepside composite bed on this years of truck either. I was just curious.

This is a link to the rims. I realy like them i want a set. I painted them black for my render tho :metal: Quote:
oh and we probably wont be keeping the 73 Step fenders cause they are too far gone...They are real rusty, there was an attempt to repair them befor, but it just rusted out again. We are keeping the box the but the fenders are comin off. |
Re: 1971 C10 Project
Great looking project truck. I love the last rendition above.
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
ya know ive never seen these frames rot right above the rear coil before. but anyways looking forward to see the progress...
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
yeah my Dad and I thought it was interesting. But it had been sitting for awhile, the guy befor attempted to make an effort on a resto-rod....and had a 350-350 combo in it. then it sat for awhile...We have a new frame now so were happy. Now its time to focus on the cab floor and rockerpanels. ill have progress picks hopefully in early summer :)
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
Besides that ol' frame, looks like a good truck.
What truck did you grab those front seats out of? |
Re: 1971 C10 Project
1989 *coufordgh* F150 Lariat...comfortable seats tho...
theres a picture of our good frame off a 1968 SWB...guy already sandblasted it and re-painted...so its ready to drop a cab on. after we change out front spindels and rear axel hubs. |
Re: 1971 C10 Project
photoshops look pretty good..

Re: 1971 C10 Project
looks like it has a factory GM horseshoe shifter in in, maybe from a 67-9 camaro or a chevelle or somthing. its probly worth some bucks
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
yeh its out of a 68 Camaro, the engine & trans that was in it befor was a 350 Ci + TH350...unfortunatly were using a 700R4...and i dont think we are able to use it :(
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
You can use it, but you won't be able to use 1st gear on the selector. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but that's how it is on the stock column shifter if you swap to the 700R4 or 4L60E.
It's a nice custom touch, I'd keep it in. |
Re: 1971 C10 Project
unfortunatly...my dad dosnt want to, but im going to pursuade him into leaving it when we build the truck lol, I was sitting in it and it just feels right!

I have 73-87 bed on my 71 and I like the way it looks. Here's a couple of pics for food for thought. It looks alot like your's with that black grill.
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
wow, im actually surprised, that looks realy nice! maybe ill keep the '74 fenders for awhile. Nice truck!!!
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
Thanks alot, I would have probably gotten a "correct" bed if I could have just for the original factor if I ever decide to resell, but I actually like the "step" on these beds better, and you cannot find a decent used bed, and can't even think of a new bed without paying some serious $$$. I got this bed removed and delivered for $250, so I jumped on it. Some people just have deeper pockets than me  I think your's is a '79 or later bed as that's when they started using the fuel door rather than just having the filler sticking out of the bed. I like that feature too since that door can actually be used if you do the Blazer tank conversion.
|
Re: 1971 C10 Project
thats true eh? i guess i could weld that fuel door closed and smooth it out. ill use these untill i can find the money to get the 67-72 fenders.
btw...i realy like your truck! |
Re: 1971 C10 Project
well now. Heres an update!

Re: 1971 C10 Project
as you saw, the engine was pulled
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...picytur003.jpg wheels were taken off all other parts i needed removed. and now...its being dissowned. the cursed truck will leave soon anyway...we hauled rover around to the front of the garage, onto solid ground. no more wet soggy grass for Rover. i got to drive it...while being towed...and it just feels realy awsome. I cant wait! http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...picytur004.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...picytur005.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...picytur006.jpg i also split the engine & tranny.
