Re: Project '86
AWESOME START!!! How hard is it to raise the bed floor like you did? The work you did on the fenders turned out great also, did you do that to make the tires sink farther into the wheel well? Keep up the good work looking forward to MORE pics Michael.

Re: Project '86
Wow... alot of hard work there. Looks good.
|
Re: Project '86
I sectioned the fenders so that the front and rear fenders would be level.
|
Re: Project '86
COOL, that looks very suttle but still a big difference in the look, i think i will have to try that on my truck. How much did you lower the fender opening? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Michael.:metal:

Re: Project '86
Truck looks awesome. How much of a "Z" did you do? Can you please give more pics of the front and back suspension. I love the fender idea!
|
Re: Project '86
What a sweet project, and awesome attention to detail. Definitely keep us posted on it's progress.

Re: Project '86
OK, I see the front Z to lower the rad support and the front clip, and I see the kit in the back. What did you do to lower the cab to match?

This Z lowers the front core support and the front of the fenders. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF9358.jpg This one keeps the cab lined up with the front. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF9351.jpg Think of it as cutting out the section where the front suspension is and raising that section up and welding it all back up. Everyting in front of and behind that stays lined up. |
Re: Project '86
looks really good! what type of welder are you using for this work?
|
Re: Project '86
I like the fender and tailgate mods.
|
Re: Project '86
Are you going to pull the front end and box off again to finish the welding on the frame?

Re: Project '86
I like your start on this. The front fender mods it spot on. I always thought it you look better with the lip lower.
Where in East Texas are you? |

That's a sweet project. You got skills. I never noticed the front fender being higher than the back. Glad someone brought it to my attention.

Re: Project '86
dammit, just when i was feeling good about mine, i see this. thats one sweet ride bud. thats an incredible amount of work you've done there. being a welder my self, i can tell the rest of you guy's there is alot of skill, patience and some serious dedication involved in a project like this. kudo's to ya man....:metal:

Re: Project '86
Nice job on the front fenders. It's the next (and hopefully final) modification I'll be making to my ride before it gets painted.
Doesn't the drive shaft hit that bar you have for the upper link bars? It must be close if it doesn't. :) Also, you might want to consider tying the bottom of the frame into that bar by triangulating it. The old cross member (which you have removed) really does a lot to keep the frame rigid. These frame s flex a ton before you start removing cross members. |
