Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA, it is the only parts store in town. If there were more stores it would be whatever store carried my parts.

Sinister 04-01-2010 04:58 PM

Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA is my fave, but I also go to Kragen and Autozone.

During my LT1 swap I practically lived at Advance Auto Parts!

Re: Favorite Parts store?

When I lived in KS, I would usually go to Oriely's cause the guys at the store I went to were pretty knowledgable.

Now that I live in WA I go to Napa (since up until recently we didn't have Oriely's....but now Oriely's has bought Schucks....but I still won't go there....they don't know anything if its not in their computer).

I go to Autozone for some things cause they're usually a little cheaper than Napa. (I also get 10% off at Napa with a local discount card)

Re: Favorite Parts store?

Carquest
Napa,
Kragen/O'reilly's

I prefer Carquest but when it comes to getting something like a gasket set I will call around to see what the best price is. When I was getting to put the engine in my 94, I went to Kragen for the Head gasket set since it was $ 20 bucks less even with my 20% off discount compared to Carquest... And when I needed to replace the Oil Pressure Sending Unit, it was still 1/2 the cost at Kragen.. But for most stuff I go to Carquest.. Even better service versus the Napa I used to work at.

HTH,
Charlie

X2. However, we do have a Lordco Auto Parts nearby that delivers here twice a day. (B.C. chain that specializes in speed equipment and custom stuff).

Re: Favorite Parts store?

autozone. They are five minutes from my house and the only parts store in town.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA

Not the cheapest but they are the only one that is in every state and since we travel all over using the Chevy as my tow vehicle we can get any warranty replacement anywhere.

I have a napa on one side of the block, an advance on the oposite side and napa two blocks down the road all three of them have done good by me.

U pull it, Its like going to wal-mart, you go in for one thing and walk out with a wheelbarrel full
but Id have to say o reillys too, theyre 3 blocks from the house so if my family takes the car while im under the truck, I can walk to the parts store and also theyre real friendly and hook me up when I'm a few cents short, no problem

I've got a great parts guy at my local O Reilly store. He takes great care of me.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I use multiple stores depending on the specific part im buying. Some brands hold up better than others or have a better chance of working out of the box.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I like Star Auto parts (I think they are the same thing as Advance, they carry Partsmaster parts). Carquest is my second choice. I buy oil and antifreeze at Autozone

Any east coasters ever heard of " Fisher/Federated, Manlove,Robbins-NH only"

Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA, in abilene, then reeders for a secondary.

in other town carquest is awesome too!

i try NOT to use the big chains because they try to sell you garbage.. and have terrible faceless customer service.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA for real parts (clutches, gaskets, bearings, etc.)

Advance or Auto Zone for (oil, filters, fluids, etc.)

I use my local NAPA for 2 reasons. 1) They sponsor Drag Racing 2) They have a lady in there that knows more then most of the guys that work there.

The store that has my part...

Actually just back from Autozone, since they are closest.
My local Napa is good for diggin up parts for me, just as long as I go to the commercial counter. The regular counter people just piss me off.

seriously though, I like NAPA.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I get most of my parts from a small local store called Thompson's Auto Supply. They rareley don't have what I need, and they've been in business for over 50 years. The only downside is they're not open on Sundays,so then I go to one of the 2 Napa's in town.I've never been inside of an Autozone or Advanced Auto even though they're popping up everywhere

Re: Favorite Parts store?

Antioch Parts Depot; local, my family owned CarQuest store. They take real good care of me.
My second choice is NAPA.
I used to go there all the time until some kid, that was barely past squirtin' green in his 3 cornered skivvies, gave me a ration over a return (NAPA Balkamp wires, lifetime warranty).
He's no longer there.
Kragen (O'Reilly's) for fluids & chemicals, & stuff they can't hardly screw up.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

Autozone -- I could walk out the front door and be in the parking lot in three minutes:metal: Plus they always help me out and know all the right questions to ask me. It's six of one, half dozen of the other with most of these places, but the people that staff them make all the difference.

Oh, and they don't do this to me: "Ok, so you need a wiper control module...which motor do you have? is that a four-wheel-drive? automatic or manual? regular cab or extended cab?" :dohh:

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I have Autozone, O'Reilly's, and Napa all within a less that 1 mile radius. I go to Napa when I can because it is a locally owned store, and the guys that I talk to for my parts have 67-72 trucks; therefore, know what parts I'm talking about. If for some reason they are closed (ie they shut the store so the workers can be with their family's for Easter) I might go to AutoZone. If they don't have the parts I need I will go to O'Reilly's, but they typically have teenagers working there that have no idea what I'm talking about. They ask for part numbers from me.

NAPA

Re: Favorite Parts store?

my favorites are as follows
1.checkers(o'reilly's)
2.pep boys
3.napa
4.carquest
5.any place other than autozone
6.autozone

ill buy my hard parts anywhere before ill consider buying hard parts from autozone.only way ill do so before shopping anywhere else is if any of the others doesnt have it.ive never had more headaches when it comes to parts shopping except for dealing with autozone.its like they have a commitment to hiring the stupidiest people they can find.only thing autozone is good for is buying fluids, filters and little things like gasket sealers or small things that cant be messed up.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

www.RockAuto.com Hands down the best and cheapest place for all sorts of car parts

i actuly buy my parts for other then US cars because its over HALF the price then here in denmark and it only takes 2 days from ordering to i have the part!

www.LmcTruck.com Great Service, Good parts, Good Prices but can be alittle slow in shipping info at times

Re: Favorite Parts store?

Wherever the best and most knowledgeable parts person works. Once you find that person, 2/3rds of your hassles are over.

Mostly it's NAPA for me, O'Reilly's if I have to, AutoZone or Advance if I'm absolutely forced to (which is to say, seldom to never).

MacAttack 04-02-2010 01:50 PM

Re: Favorite Parts store?

NAPA: on-Line for the past year. Zero problems / 14 orders. UPS makes it not worth it to drive to Los Alamitos (14 miles away), unless there's an emergency - or a battery purchase, like last weekend.

Mac. :mm:

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I worked for Autozone for a couple years and will only give them my money if they are the only one with the part I need. I absolutely hate the company and how they treat their employees. I shop at O'Reilly's most of the time, the independents in town aren't really DIY friendly. They deal mostly with commercial accounts. Plus I have a cousin who works at O'Reilly's corporate office so I feel like I'm keeping family employed.

Re: Favorite Parts store?

I like O'reilly's. A friend of mine is the store manager so I get really good service, and a discount. There are several stores here and they are all pretty good folks, most of them are hot rooders so that helps.

ETsC10 04-04-2010 01:36 AM

Re: Favorite Parts store?

3. O'Reilly's if accuracy doesn't count (plus their commercial website sucks) but they are very close to home.

2. Napa for oil filters & their other "branded items" plus their wonderful staff.

1. Shop the most at Rockauto...NEVER gotten the wrong part and prices are great.

I really like Napa but I like how Autozone keeps track of your purchases by your phone number. You dont gotta keep up with reciepts for warranty stuff!
