Found a truck today, what is it worth????
 

Okay so my buddy told me about a truck he saw that was the same body style as mine for sale on his way to work the other day. We drove out to the place today and the guy was outside so we stopped and checked it out. The truck is a VERY clean and original lwb 1/2 ton 72 chevy. It's hugger orange with a white roof, cheyenne package, A/C, 350-350 clean. Turned it on and it purrs like a cat. AC blows cold, everything is extremely nice and original. The tailgate is straight, still has the band on it with all of the letters. The old man who is selling it is the second owner, bought it from a guy he goes to church with about ten years ago. The inner and outer rockers and flawless, the drivers cab corner has a little bit of surface rust, and one of the cab supports has cancer on the very bottom. Other then that, I would consider this a rust free truck. The original wheels and hub caps are all there and extremely nice. The guy had every registration receipt since 1972. Just curious what you guys thought the value of a truck like this might run. I was thinking maybe 7-8 grand??????

Haha, my mom loves it. My dad took her on a date in it the night it came home. She also gave him the OK for new carpet, sill plates, and seat cover:metal:

ok thats it im ditching canada and moving to the warmer climates in the states lol cant find stuff like that up here, if that was for sale where i live they'd be trying to get like 12 grand for it i bet

Haha, I kinda got lucky on this one. Some old man had it parked in his front yard on a back road in the middle of farm country where no one ever goes. My buddy drove by it on his way to a job and told me about it. Turns out the guy who sold it bought it from the original owner in the 90's when he was having money troubles. The original owner still lives in the same house and his kids were pissed that he sold the truck to the 2nd owner. Inspection receipts show 138,xxx miles. Nothing has been touched on it, still has the jack, spare tire, original exhaust, absolutely everything. I can get more pics of anything specific if you guys want:metal:

yea id like some more specific pictures of........ EVERYTHING! lol lets see some better pics of the inside and the engine bay of course and the jack pieces in place i have yet to see how that looks when its all there ogether in the truck

Haha, it kinda appears that way. We just found some really good local deals lately and couldn't resist. There is another one on the reel, a local truck bought new in Mooresville, the original owners son inherited the truck and doesn't want it. We offered the kid 500 for the truck and we are waiting for him back to us. It's just a plain 72 lwb medium olive 1/2 ton with rusty rockers but it'll make a sweet shop truck. That'll make the collection 5!! Oh and I found another 72 Sierra Grande in Wilkesboro that was SICK but the owner inherited it from his grandpa and doesn't want to sell it. Heck these things hold their value better then gold. And you can drive them while they increase in value!!:metal:

lol i was just giving you a hard time, woud be a nice truck to own though if you do decide to sell it let me know, if i have the cash at the time id buy it, i am actually looking for one for the body to put on my swb frame, i posted an add for my motor to trade or to sell it but havent had any luck oh well though just gotta try and be patient

how come your dad wants to change the seat cover? that one looks like it in good shape, does he just like houndstooth better or is the seat torn?

The seat it torn over on the drivers side pretty bad. He wants to do a houndstooth cover but I'm trying to convince him that an original style cover would be correct since it's not a "super". But we'll see, it'll be mainly a driver and little upgrades will be made over time when the money is there:metal:

yea it would be a tough call to keep it factory looking since so much of it is original, if he does he should go with black vinyl with orange houndstooth the match the paint, the truck is orange right?

Been tryin to find a build sheet on this ole girl. It's not under or behind the seat, I've heard of them being between the bed and cab and also behind the gas tank cardboard???? And ideas where I can look? Also curious what plant it would've been made out of. It was sold new in Statesville, NC if that narrows it down any.

i think some build sheets were stuck between the springs and foam on the seats, or under the carpet, i think you can find out what plant the truck was made at through your vin, you do have the protecto plate you can find out through that too theres a thread on the general discussion page, i think it was titled decoding protecto plate or something like that

It came out of the Baltimore plant. (the "B" in your VIN designates this)

Thanks for the info. According to the VIN this truck was made in Baltimore. I saw in that thread that it a guy found a Baltimore built sheet under the drivers side carpet but I didn't see anything. Maybe I need to look harder? Or maybe there isn't one in this truck.
Unless someone replaced the carpet and tossed the build sheet. I found a tag under the original carpet, maybe it was replaced at some point. The carpet is cut out around the bench seat, is that original? All of the cardboard and foam is still in the floor under the carpet so I assumed the carpet was original. Are there any original carpet pros out there?
