Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
They all have different trim and accessories. Some of the trim is real cool looking. Some are 1960 and some are 61

You can become a member of their site and ask them questions. I had a lot of fun with these guys when I posted. You can write in English and someone bilingual will translate for you. There's more Portuguese than Spanish in their dialect. |

You can see how they are trying to model them after the impalas.

What the !!! Ok, so I'm guessing there's no such thing as an automotive design school in Argentina? Whew, who cut the cheese?

Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
I'm digging the grille guards.
|
Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
I like the rear bumper guards.
|
Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
I've never even seen pictures of one of these before. I like all of them. Funny the early models seem to have Mercury upper quarter panels with either 59 or 60 Chevy passenger car rear trim molded in. What an interesting assortment. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
First thing I thought of was the "family truckster" from the Christmas Vacation movie with Chevy Chase
looks like GM Detroit shipped a bunch of leftover trim stuff from the last decade down to use up on these, and told the designers to just use it up! My son's heading to Argentina for the month of January....I'll tell him to be on the lookout for some of these. He'll get a kick....he used to have a 65 suburban 4x4 |

Any one of those would be a hit at a car show in the States.

Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
I wonder if the speedometer would be in metric or not.

Found a few more pics of trucks in Argentina. These were taken by a man who visited Argentina looking for classic cars/trucks. Not the best pics, but still pretty cool.

Couple more....don't the tail lights look familiar on the Argentinian 67-72 fleetside?
|
Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
The speedometer looks to be metric in the first picture above, or the could be mph and those trucks were rockets that regularly went over 100mph.

Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
Hi guys,
My name is Federico and I'm from Argentina. A few months ago I joined the forum and started reading all the great stuff that you guys have here, I just found today this post. I'm the owner of a 1961 Apache Crew cab truck. These trucks were modified mainly by a company called "Igarreta" here in Argentina in the nearly 60's, requested by the government to be used by different sectors (like the national train, post office, army, etc). There are just a few still in the roads and you will see different versions. I bought the truck also a few months ago and I started, unfortunately very slow, the restoration. Is very difficult here to find good parts, so basically we need to do everything from the scratch. Take a look: 5 years ago: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/833/8zej.jpg Now (after zero maintenance from the previous owner): http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/541/zbna.jpg I will take a few more and share here. Best, Fede |
Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
Fede, way cool truck you have there, wish I had one too. That thing would be a real head turner for sure here in the U.S. Thanks for explaining about their origin.

Fede, thank you for showing us your truck and shedding some light on them! |
Re: 1960 Argentina Chevy truck double cabs trucks
Very cool truck and thanks for sharing the pics. To bad parts aren't more available to you guys as we all understand the time and work involved to fabricate parts. Looking forward to more pics!!!
