I sold my 1954 gmc last week the guy came an picked it up yesterday. So I have been truck shopping since last week. today I picked this little gem up today. 154,000 miles one owner trade in. needs rear brake shoes, a interior door handle and the a/c charged. what do you all think.

Re: 1997 chevy new toy
I think it looks good. I'm not big on the mud flaps, but i'd drive it no problem.
|
Re: 1997 chevy new toy
yea I'm not big on them either. I may swap the ones off my 89 to this one. may be getting a set of tube steps. kids have a little bit of a hard time getting in/out of the truck. thanks d metal.

Re: 1997 chevy new toy
took the chevy rubber mud flaps the previous owner bolted onto the other ones. looks better this way. got all my stuff stripped off the 89. now to get the third door fixed. new brakes on the rear. take the bug deflector off and put it on the 89 to hide the dent in the hood on the 89. got to take the trailer hitch of the 89 yet. put the stock wheels and tires back on the 89. man do I have a lot to do.

Re: 1997 chevy new toy
nice truck, that color has been growing on me lately.

Re: 1997 chevy new toy
thanks. yea, at first I didn't care for the light blue but I do really like it. it is light quasar blue metallic (#20)2
|
Re: 1997 chevy new toy
well I got the third door fixed. had to sacrifice the lower door latch. cut the arm off it and then cut the top off to get at the striker bolts. picked up another yesterday at the junk yard. there was a few rocks jammed in the latch. explains why it was stuck. also took of the bug deflector. rust self tappers are no match for wd-40 and a few raps from the hammer. changing the brakes sometime today.

got my new exhaust today. fedex dropped it off this morning. also got my rear window decal installed at custom trim today. chris did a great job. pics of new exhaust to come soon. it is mandrel bent with a magnaflow muffler. can't wait since the previous owner had some one do a crappy job welding up true duels on the truck. this one will be done right. no duck s&&t welds on unclean pipes here.

haven't updated in a while. installed e3 plugs, summit hi performance coil, fender flares, and put the mags back on for the summer with some goodyear dura tracs.

Re: 1997 chevy new toy
The truck looks good. You did some very nice, but subtle changes. I am surprised how clean that truck is for a PA truck ( I grew up in Pittsburgh area)
|
Re: 1997 chevy new toy
those wheels look great, i was considering a set of those myself!
i like the addition of the fender flares. |
Re: 1997 chevy new toy
thanks yea I lucked out this was a southern truck. I have to put a rocker on the pass side but other than that just dents and dings. this summer after the rocker fix it is getting color matched raptor liner on the whole lower half. the wheels take like 10 years off the truck. lol
