1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
So I figured I might as well make a build thread. I started out with a 1984 single cab long bed S10, a front clip, a cab from a 52, a short box from a 49 and a 1999 4.8 litre and a 4l60e. I paid 300 for the s10 delivered, 800for the clip and cab and title, and 300 for the 49 box. The truck will be matte bright white with gloss black grille, bumper, door handles... All the trim. Cab is sound deadened with fat mat. I have Dakota digital vhx gauges, vintage a/c, stern beast 20" wheels, tanks Inc fuel tank and set up, psi wiring harness... And a bunch of other nice parts for it, I designed custom hood emblems also. Pics coming!
Here is the 52 parts hat I started with . https://s3.postimg.org/rxjv1yoj7/image.jpg Here are the truck parts https://s3.postimg.org/5ktl73rv7/image.jpg 4.8 with 120,000 on it https://s4.postimg.org/pg237by8t/image.jpg |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
I read everyone else's posts and changed he measurements a little because I want my truck on the ground but with no air ride... So here are some of the mounts I made
Some weld action :) https://s3.postimg.org/r218fbo6b/image.jpg https://s3.postimg.org/bhtuose1v/image.jpg I made some panels and brad rolled them for the firewall https://s3.postimg.org/rxx506rib/image.jpg Seat installed and column mocked up https://s3.postimg.org/xnddkhxoj/image.jpg |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
In having a local upholster do my seat, door panels and headliner kind of similar to this
https://s3.postimg.org/o2wlh1lur/image.jpg These are the wheels I have 20x9 Stern Beast wheels. I wanted a somewhat modern resto mod type look https://s3.postimg.org/f9aadoo9v/image.jpg These are the headlights which I think will be awesome against the matte white https://s3.postimg.org/yfnhgv4rn/image.png |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Trans painted
https://postimg.org/image/btacyu3yn/ Motor painted, did the valve covers matte white. I used a 1970 gm fleet bright white and then sprayed a matte clear on top https://s3.postimg.org/ck334m6c3/image.jpg Intake cover, it rid of the vortec https://s3.postimg.org/mvffx9y1f/image.jpg Here are the logos I designed and had a friend cut them out with a cnc laser, these will be gloss black on the sides of the hood https://s4.postimg.org/qrrhtwrj1/image.jpg |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Hand made trans crossmember, it's now bolted through the side and the top

Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Dash primed after I filled some holes and built a small cubby hole
https://s3.postimg.org/ub3o3rsxv/image.jpg Had to check one of the gauges out ! https://s3.postimg.org/c70nj4v9f/image.jpg After I had it mostly mocked up https://s4.postimg.org/d0ebpjrh9/image.jpg I did 3" drop lower control arms and 3" blocks in the black Most of he body work done, I hand made the front part of the floors and trans tunnel as well as shaved the hole for the fuel fill https://s4.postimg.org/khnj4rh0d/image.jpg That's all for now.. Should have my interior back in a week or so and I'll use it painted and hopefully done in a month, maybe a little longer. |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Looks like a good start to a great build..love the new hood emblems..what's your ride height? That looks mighty low..that wouldn't work where I live..haha

Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Thanks ! I'm going to stain the wood black also.. And do gloss black steel
strips in between the wood. I've never seen a matte white with gloss black trim 47-53... Ever. So I hope it turns out like I'm hoping :) |
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
At the front of the running boards it's right around 5 inches off the ground. I think it looks lower in the picture than in person.

Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
What do the dots mean?
|
Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
Sorry bout that..everytime I post and hit my back button it will double post my original..it didn't use to do that but here lately every time I post I have to go back to the home page or it will double up...so if I catch it in time I just hit edit and put dots in it cause I can't erase it..

Re: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 on s10 frame with LSX- build thread
That's awesome ! I like them low. The last truck I built I did air ride, and it was cool but I didn't think it rode the way I thought it should. I did a manual valve setup on it. If I did it again I would do electric valves and height sensors so it stays at ride height no matter what when you set it. I drive quite a bit. I live a hour away from friends and family so the stuff I build has to be reliable. I did the LSX because I wanted the power, reliability and gas mileage .:metal:

This is what I did instead of the vortec cover. The air intake can be flipped around. I ran mine through the cab to the worthless vent on the passenger side. I even found a way to save the horn button! The top is just pvc, fiberglass and muffler tips. Beautiful build! I can't wait for more pics!

Killin' it. My favorite part is how little you spent to get the project going. Great work. dug
