81-87 NEW OEM quality dash pads!!

5 Attachment(s)
You are looking at a new never installed MADE IN THE USA dash pad with dash plate nuts and the 5 special screws for dash bezel that makes installation easier that are talked about in the installation video and the clips on the back are already installed on pad, and this is ready to be put into your truck. This is an actual take your dash pad off, replacement dash pad NOT just a slip glue on cover, for an 81-87 pickup truck or a 81-91 blazer suburban and crew cab. I have the 73-80 listed for sale in another add. This listing is for the padded DASH PAD ONLY. The photos of it installed are for fit references only. This is a correct reproduction made with the vinyl over foam more like the original GM ones were making it easy to install WITH NO TRIMMING and easy to dye to your color . I have installed many of these myself in my restoration shop and this is the most rigid and best fitting and best appearing one I have ever found. These pads suggested retail price is over $400.00. If you want a color, other than black, I have them in grey, brown , burgundy, camel and blue. PRICE IS 325.00 FIRM I can ship if needed to lower 48 states for 59.00 if needed or can be picked up in NOBLE OK 73068.

To answer many questions I have had concerning these dash pads they ARE NOT the dashes being sold by Dashes Direct Aka universal urethane, jegs, summit, oer, lmc aka long motor just to list a few.

IF YOU WANT YOU CAN PURCHASE ONE DIRECTLY FROM MY WEBSITE.

I have many parts on my website to complete the installation as well as many parts for your restoration

Please note these are NOT THE REALLY BAD FITTING URETHANE dash pads that are flimsy, shrink, and sag in the middle that require WOOD to hold them from warping.

AWESOME! I am so happy someone is doing QUALITY dash pads! What is the chance of you getting door panels made for the 73-80 trucks? Anything available aftermarket is such poor quality. I do parts for a living and can't even find nice 73-80 door panels for my own truck! I think people would be willing to pay for OEM quality ones. I have a large group of people around here that would anyway.

I make very nice 77-80 Silverado style door panels. They are so nice I have guys around here putting them on 81-87 pickup trucks.

Can I get more info on the door panels? OEM thickness? Black that has to be dyed?

cheyennepickup,

The dash pads look great! Too bad you do not or no longer have "1973-1980 DASH PLATE Black & Brushed Aluminum w/o AC replacement type Goes on Dash Pad". After all, not all trucks came with AC....especially in the northeast.

Re: 81-87 NEW OEM quality dash pads!!

I have the same questions as 1774btcrew. BTW, your dash pads are excellent! I had a chance to stop in at LMC on the way through KC last year and was terribly disappointed with their door panels! They look great, but unlike the originals, they are hard plastic and thin. I doubt they would survive having to be removed from the door if you had to work on something. There should be some slight pliability in the material used. I also wonder about them rattling if not insulated in some fashion. Just my thoughts. Look forward to seeing your door panels (77-80). Mike

I bought one from my 87 and the fit was good the only thing I didn't like the dash trim does not fit well on passenger side and the front of the dash pad is a little puffer than the oe pads. Overall better than any other aftermarkets I have seen

Joe, I've installed 3 of these in different trucks. The blue one was installed just last week. I give them a solid B+, the fit on the right side is perfect and with a little tweaking the fit is good around the dash bezel. The color match is real good as well. Here's a few pics of the 3 I've installed. The pic of the black pad was wavy because I didn't have the clip all the way down, once it as corrected the pad was great. I hope this info will help, and I can get more pics if wanted.

Thanks for the info. What did you have to do to get he drivers side to fit good? I have an nos dash pad, but for what they are worth I was thinking about trying one of these instead.

Did your prices go up? The original post said $325, and the last pose has shipping at $55... but when I go to the site I'm getting $339.95 and $60.79, respectively.

... and my question was from Mar 2018. The question was asked because some vendors offer discounts for forum members, so I was interested in whether the cost increased, or if the cost posted here was a forum-member-only deal.

Regardless, my post was 7 months ago, and I've since purchased and installed a new dash pad. I ended up with a USA1 Industries pad, which I am not 100% satisfied with, but it's a sunk cost now. The grass is always greener on the other side, but wish I had went with one of these pads now... I didn't get a response to my original question, nor a response to 2 voicemails, so took it as a bad sign. Oh well!

  1. I did like the finish of the pad itself. The material used very closely mimics the stock pad that I removed from my 86'.
  2. It required a bit of trimming to get the pad all the way seated on my dash... but that is to be expected with any of the aftermarket pads from my research.
  3. The paint that is on the pad (blue) was already rubbed off in some places before I even got it in the truck. Not enough to warrant a return, but it's sort of a let down.
  4. I ordered matching defrost vent covers, but they did not seat fully, as the hole wasn't large enough. I ended up having to cut off a (unseen) corner of the vent cover to get it to click into place.
  5. I odered a new aluminum dash insert. When I went to put that onto the pad, the holes didn't quite line up, and caused the insert to not seat fully. I used a dremel to make the hole a little lower and that helped some.
  6. The mold that they use is obviously designed for A/C vents, because there is a slight curve inward where the inner A/C vent would go, it isn't insane, but it creates a gap between the insert and the pad for about 3"... it wouldn't be noticable if the rest of the insert had the same gap, but because part of the insert sits up against the pad, this one 3" section looks bad (to me).
  7. The lower holes that hold the dash pad to the dash metal (there's like 5o f them). Those holes DO NOT HAVE ANY METAL REINFORCEMENT. The stock pad has metal embedded into those mounting tabs which means the pad holds down against the dash fully. Without the metal reinforcement, it took less than 10 minutes for one of the tabs to rip (it's all vinyl) instead of keep the pad in place. I ended up just removing all the screws because I'd rather have no screws than rips all across the bottom.
  8. The foam is too thick in parts, causing the dash pad to look wavy across the top. Especially above the driver's console, I have a big wave that I thought would lay down better, but I'm going to have to pull the pad, shave down a 3-4" section and then put the pad back in.
  9. The upper left and right sections where the drivers dash bezel sit against the pad need better screw retainers. The ones that are in there are glued? taped? I don't know... all I know is that the first screw went in and I hear 'ting' and the flat nut falls to the floor. The other side, same thing. I had to get a U nut and do some cutting and arranging to get the bezel to sit against the pad in this section... and even then after an hour of road time, the nut slipped off the pad and I have a gap again.

This is just one man's opinion. It's the little details that make or break a quality product, and I think the USA1 dash pad missed the little details. When you step back and look at the pad, it looks great... but anyone with a hobby vehicle knows that any imperfection you notice becomes the only thing you obsess over. Given the PRICE of the pad, I thought that these little things shouldn't have been such an issue. The lower retaining metal is a very simple fix, and feels sloppy that it wasn't fixed after the first version.

The Cheyenne pad could have the exact same issues... I don't know. All I know is that I wished I'd went with a different brand on the off chance that it wasn't an issue.

Good choice on the foam, USA1 Industries. That is where I get my foam from, for my seat restorations. Made right here in the USA. Fit and quality is A+!!
