Window questions

1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to remove the passenger side window out of the door and it won't come free of the window track on the bottom. Any helpful tips to not break it or a trip to the E.R.?

Picture is sideways.

Is it worth it to buy new glass all around? Is old glass and new glass the same thing? It looks like the glue in between the two halves are yellowing around the edges.

Re: Window questions

Roll it up further, the metal track that the glass is set in should be screwed or bolted to the raising mechanism. Unscrew the glass a metal piece, roll down the mechanism, then drop and turn the glass 90 degrees to remove.

Re: Window questions

The "wheel" inside the sliding track is rivited to the arm as in the picture. Or are you talking about lower in the door on the other side of the arm?

There is a channel below the bottom of the glass where you will see four (five?) clutch head screws.

It seems like the rubber or whatever the window is set into has hardened and will not let the window free.

in the above picture you can see the track that the roller runs in. in that track there should be 4 clutch head screws - 2 towards the ends & 2 close to the middle. remove those and the roller track should separate from the frame around the glass. you may have to soak the screws with pb blaster or maybe drill them out. remember that the glass has a frame all the way around it and the track fastens to that track

There are 4 screws in the track. The first photo points to the track everyone is talking about, you may have to roll the window up or down to locate each screw through an opening. The screws attach into the bottom of the window, shown in the second picture.
