94 Sierra 1500 PS pump in 68 C10
Good Morning Y'all,
I have a 68 C10 LB and recently switched my 350 to a serpentine system taken from a 94 GMC 1500 donor. Most everything bolted up nicely, just need to wire the alternator and hook up the PS pump. The new PS pump appears to have a different fitting than the old one, it is smaller. Does anyone know what line I need to connect this pump meant for a 94 Sierra to my existing box? Thanks from San Antonio. |

Remove the fitting from your old pump & install it in the new pump. This way you cab use your original line.

Thanks for the reply. The thing is that the flared male end of the original line appears to be larger in diameter than what the new pump needs.

All of the Saginaw "Canned Ham" looking pumps use the same outlet threads behind the large 1" fitting. Use a 1" wrench or a good crescent wrench to swap out not only the fittings, but also the pressure relief spring and valves from your old pump into the new one - or else you may well get who-know-what for steering pressure / flow / feel.
(I did a similar serpentine swap as you, and the '92 PS pump's valve doesn't give nearly as much assist as I'd like. Check out this website, you want to swap parts A, B, and C. http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articl...rsteeringmods/ |
