C-20 air line size....

1 Attachment(s)
On my C-20 I have a single 1/4" line running from my tank and splits to 4 manual paddle valves inside the cab, then 1/4" out to each bag.
I usually air up 2 bags at a time, so front together, then rear together. If I went to a 3/8" line from my tank then split to the 4 valves would it increase the speed much? Seeing how the single 1/4" line is feeding 2, 1/4" lines to fill 2 bags.
I thought allowing a bit more supply to the valves, there would be more volume available and possibly speed it up a bit. I'm not looking for a massive speed increase, just looking to see if it's worth my time to do it.
I already have some 3/8" DOT line here and would only need 2 fittings and a bit of time on my lift.

I'm running 2 Viair 380 compressors into a 4 gallon aluminum tank, that runs to the 4 manual paddle valves, then to the bags and some gauges. Pretty basic setup but it works.

The attached picture is aired to max height and aired out. With my setup I can have a catastrophic failure and still be able to drive it. At rest, the axle is on frame.

Re: C-20 air line size....

Are the manual valves 1/4''? If they are then changing the line size isn't going to make much of a difference as the restriction will come from the valves.

Re: C-20 air line size....

Yes the valves are 1/4". When I air up the truck I am using 2 valves at a time. So 2 valves are pulling from a single 1/4" feed from the tank. Whereas if my feed line from the tank up to the valves is 3/8" then from the 3/8", splits into the 4 valves, I'm then feeding both 1/4" valves with the 3/8" line.

Curious if anyone tried the difference between a 1/4" feed line vs a 3/8" feed line when operating more than one valve at a time.
