From my intro....So...since I'm retired, I'm cheating quite a bit. My Plan: 67 SB fleetside, LS3 connect and cruise package, March serpentine kit, "No Limit Engineering" chassis, coilovers on four corners, power R&P, 9" with 3:73 trac lok, tank w/ FI pump, camaro big brakes up front, Ford Explorer rear disc with emerg brakes, all lines run, powder coated and assembled.

Weds, 19 July....Donor truck cab top home safe and sound, first shipment of patch panels in shop and 72 AC Cab on rotisserie. Took me half a day just to get cab on the rotisserie since I had to make trips for the right bolts and stuff..

Thursday....welding in door braces, x brace on sat

Friday..more cutting, fitting up rockers

Friday 21st...finished cutting out all the rust at drivers side front....as you can see in the photo, I'll have to replace the lower part of the door column, didn't plan on it, but that's how discovery goes...you'll probably notice that I saved the front portion of the outer rocker, its really solid and I'll use it as a guide for the outer rocker location,...I know a lot of builders just remount their door and adjust, but I thought I'd try this...gotta learn from my mistakes. I'll do much the same at the rear of the cab, will also do new cab supports. I've already made the small patches for the floor and inner kick panel. Today I treated every surface that was raw with ospho, tomorrow I'll use metal etching weld through primer...

Clipping the top....I need experience on this as I want to retain the entire window structure from the donor truck...anyone done this?

Well....another 6 hours on the truck, did get the cross brace welded in, removed dash, started the front windshield cut at the cowl which actually allowed the removal of the dash. Removed the seam sealer from the drip rails and couldn't find a single pin hole in the roof! It looks so good that I'm thinking of changing my approach, so I cut out about 4 inches of the inner roof panel at the front. This showed that this area was the only issue ( at this time..😏)..who knows...so now I'll patch the inner roof and replace upper and lower windshield frame pieces...suggestions anyone on the inner roof?

Well, not much accomplished this week, finished cuttting out all remains rust, media blasted lower section on Thursday, removed top today and trimmed the other top to be welded in tomorrow....some photos...I've got a strategy going on for the cuts...more as I start welding

Great start on your project....Alot bigger job than I would be able or willing to take on...looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks for the comment #rustytruck50. This is my first attempt, so stay tuned for multiple mistakes....fri- sun we trimmed the lower cab and donor cab top, made decisions on where to cut. I've read that many people say to cut at different angles, don't do a straight cut, so my brother layed out the cuts for me and I just provided the labor for the cuts...you can see the "notch" on the inside of the A pillar in one photo and some of our seams. We made the front cut between the two lower dash mounting bolts and the upper dash mounting bolt, making a template plate matching the holes. Once both cabs were cut we kept trimming until the upper bolt hole matched. We pretty much did the same for the rear, just used a bracket to Match the door rubber bumper above the door striker on the cab body...then trimmed the back until we could slip a bolt from the template into the cab...yea, this is a lot of effort, but I think that the two cabs are matched very close, of course professionals wouldn't take this much time nor approach...but then again two no talents in a diesel 4x4 would have charged me 120 shop hours...

Lots of boring work completed now, rockers and all finished, made a new AC plate copy of the vintage air that was supplied and welded into firewall, welded studs on inside to get a flush look, started sanding the cab....filled camper lights in the top and did a skim coat...

Interesting 4 months...picked up the No Limit chassis, installed the LS3 package, started the exhaust system.
1. Motor mounts put the engine about 1/64” from frame crossmember bridge, Rob sent new bridges to elevate engine 1/2”....
2. Decided to use tri-clamp fittings for ease in breaking down exhaust. Racing guys call these V clamps, but pharmaceutical piping engineers developed these decades ago...reasonable cost. Straight pipe, Tees, 45s and 90s are from JMS supply here in Raleigh, 0.065” wall, 304 SS. Hush power IIs via Summit, later when I get in the pipe supports I’ll post.
3. H pipe same as above, yes plenty of clearance for drive shaft. Just a note, that driveshaft is out of a 62 C10...perfect fit, maybe somethings shouldn’t change...

Yes I know...but this is the second painting of the cab..I’m not a painter, nor have I the skills to finesse the needs to produce a good painted body. Those that can, have my respect, those that say they can and can’t...well, we can talk bad services all day....so, the second go around produced a paint process that is near perfect. So now I can start re assembly...

I don't pay to have work done on my stuff anymore (when I do, it's something important, and I KNOW the shop doing what I ask will do it correctly).

Seems like when I've paid to have something minor done, I've always spent the money to have someone screw it up way worse that I would have, then I have to fix the darn thing myself.....

So the last couple of days, I fitted the paper gaugess and dash for appearance ...and installed the bulkhead connector for the wiring harness...I’ve got to replace the screws with SS to clean up the firewall...now I’m really enjoying this...

Well....to match the dash / glove box I decided to go with a satin look on the AC control panel..rebuilt to accomadate the vintage air controls, can you guess for what function I’ll use the old fan control switch? Hint: only one position gives a normally closed contact

I went with American Autowire and having to integrate Vintage Air and Classic gauges requires several wiring “adjustments”

Finished up the cab last night, all the conventional wiring/systems are in place, new front/rear glass is in....now for the fun part...LS wiring....

I honestly really like it, retired USN Electrician, right now I’m in that decision point of where to put it all...I’d like to have the ecu, trans controls under the Dash, although that is a very tedious process. Also since the cab hasn’t even been on the chassis, it leaves me with a lot of unknown unknowns....time to mate these two...

I thought I’d post the bracket and speaker back I built for my truck. Speaker is the retro sound dual...not the same as the original but works. I’ve found that I really need to read more on the forum before I do something “not stock”. Photos of speaker for dash, small 4x6 for rear. I cut and covered a sheet metal mount for the rear, not a very powerful system, but it sounds good to me and the Bluetooth hands free phone works very well.

Nice work on the speaker and bracket. I have the ones that go near the floor. I think you'll be able to hear your speakers better due to your placement.

Fabricated the seat frame for the TMI seats and 2016 Silverado console, added a small bulldog gun vault since I’ve got a non locking glove box. Next is to fab the closure plate around the base while the console is being upholstered to match those seats. I have to admit, the seat and console height really sit nice.
