WTB Front Drum Spindles
Looking for a pair of front drum spindles/steering knuckles for a '68 C10. I'd like to be sure the bottom surface of the spindles (where the inside bearing races sit) have no wear. On my current ones I can feel a step down where the races wore the spindle.
Also I'll take a pair of steering arms and a pair of brake anchor pins if you got'em. |
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
I have a set, send me your number and I can text you some pics tomorrow

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
I will have a pair from my ‘70 soon as I am updating to disc brakes. Shipping is expensive on heavy items though.

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
Thanks for posting those good pics, zicc, I really appreciate it. Am I seeing a fair amount of wear under the inner race?
Maybe my spindles aren’t as bad as I thought? I’d like to start fresh with new metal but I can’t seem to find any new or unworn drum spindles. Sorry to be so picky but I don’t think those would get me where I want to be. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
Did you find some spindles? I have mine off now. I can get pics if you are still looking
|
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
Sure, I'm still looking for some with as little wear as I can find. Shoot me some pictures of them, especially the bottom of the spindles where they rest in the inner races.

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
I will try to get some pics tomorrow after work

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
Mine have some wear also, I measured the bearing mating surface with a digital caliper and it measured 1.382". Realistically, I don't think you will find any without wear unless you can find NOS.
|
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
The bearing ID is 1.375" so my spindles have about .007" wear. The bearing still fit good on the spindle with no measurable side play.

Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
To bad u r not closer. I recently went with drop spindles and disc brakes on my 68 so i have it all. Spindles, brakes, drums, heck even wheels. Can't even give em away ! Somebody come get these parts- free.

I don't know where you are in Iowa but I have a couple of complete front x-members. I have never checked out any of the parts on them. I would also have to check and see if they are 1/2 or 3/4. LockDoc |
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
I have a set I just took of my 67. Truck has 86k actual miles, and I'm in Iowa. :metal:

If the truck is that low a mileage truck that might be the ticket..... LockDoc |
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
Thanks for the responses!
70STOVEBOLT, thanks for checking. As best I can tell, 1.375" is what an unworn spindle measures. Inside of the inner race will naturally measure a hair more. Can you confirm that is the measurement vertically across the spindle (since the wear would happen on the bottom)? If so, send me some pics and a price? 57Suburb, I'm definitely interested in some low-mile spindles that I can pick up myself. Pics & price? LockDoc and tjc, until I find a good pair of spindles I'll still be in the market. Let me know if you find you have some good ones. |
Re: WTB Front Drum Spindles
I will check on Monday and get back to you.
