Help Identifying my 1967 283??

Hey guys, I picked up my 67' C10 yesterday finally! The owner said it was a 327 truck but when I checked the numbers and options I found out it was just a 283 with a Powerglide which is fine with me. The Original engine was replaced with a crate engine a few years ago but he had the original or what was said to be with the truck. The casting number is correct but I cant match the suffix to the truck and I don't see a vin anywhere. Any help appreciated!

Your suffix code WE says it’s a 65 283 or a 68 307.
Your block has a road draft tube hole so it’s not a 307.
Both are truck engines so no serial number. Trucks didn’t have that on the pad.
Your first pic shows the build date.
You’ll need the casting code To confirm. Found on the drivers side back.

66-67 283.

At least you know it’s a 283.
Likely one of the last with road draft tube hole.

Might be your original motor!

Cool!!!

Are you going to rebuild the 283???

I built one in the 80's, have some idea's about them, many may not...

Small journal small blocks had the "draft tube" hole. I've never heard it called that...
That hole was not used in any large journal blocks, which essentially is all small blocks after 1967.
