Master disconnect switch
So I have this idea. Going to be installing HEI soon. Need to run 12 volt wire anyway, lets put a kill switch in. Here is the idea, my truck has manual throttle knob on dash right side.Above it has one of the GM plugs for when the other hole has nothing to put in it.(maybe was for manual choke??)Why not take the plug out and put switch there with a knob that looks like the rest of the ones on dash? Maybe a wiper knob?
Any ideas on what switch mite work?? Would be hidden in plain site I think. |
Re: Master disconnect switch
I would use a wiper switch.

Re: Master disconnect switch
Might be better off changing all fluids, brakes and front end parts before adding complications.
Or is all that already done? |
Re: Master disconnect switch
I like kill switches but I agree, a wiper switch that one turns instead of pulling out would be more practical.

Re: Master disconnect switch
I really like this idea.
We've been talking about how to do something like this for my son's truck we are building. We were going to do it with the electric fuel pump, but if we do a dual (back-up) security, that would be great! |

Quote:
2). Fuel line cutoff (easy to do with in-cab tank). 3). Coil switch. 4). Brake jack (available online). 5). Back up/pull up to immovable object, shift into gear towards that object, remove shift lever. 6). Drive badly rusted truck. 7). Device that has to be pushed while turning key (like a manual throttle knob). |
