The doors are the only steel in my truck that are in marginal shape. They both have small rust holes and both have 2 cut-outs for speakers each. I was just going to replace them because I figured the $300 they cost for the door shells would be cheaper than buying patch panels and having them welded in. |
Re: Best replacement doors to buy
There will always be fitment issues with pretty much ALL aftermarket panels and tins. So going into it with an open mind that they will not be a direct bolt in with great fitment is a bonus.
Also... these trucks were bolted together at the factory with the gaps not being aligned perfectly either. Trucks were made to be trucks back then. :) Gary |

I have a pair I bought from LMC a few years back. I decided to have my originals repaired.

Re: Best replacement doors to buy
Bite the bullitt, do a search--nationwide and buy the best ORIGINAL doors you can find----and as said before, youll still have to massage them some for a good fit.
Ive never seen or even heard of good aftermarket doors. When you buy aftermarket, there will always be fitment issues and quality of Chinese steel issues. Aftermarket doors are usually too long or too short or light weight. I would love to be proven wrong on this. I searched aftermarket and then searched for the best original I could find-----then drove 1100 miles to pick them up. |
Re: Best replacement doors to buy
Look under the projects section for Project Shiro and check out the fit of our new doors.

If you were replying to Sherm6413, then why did you quote me in the post with the pics?
Why can't you share with us the brand you sell? |

Re: Best replacement doors to buy
I re-skin and or make minor repairs to OE doors. Aftermarket Door skins are easy to work with, the fit is rather spot on. Just ensure you have all the necessary tools or know a good shop that has the knowledge.

I fell into the reproduction door trap. Couldn't even get them to close no matter what I did. I discovered the reason why as well, the area where the hinge attaches to the door isn't from deep enough causing the hinge to move the door towards the rear once attached. These were Tri-plus doors
