Re: C10 Goldilocks
My new favorite truck! Sweet build!

Re: C10 Goldilocks
Haven't checked in with you guys in a while. Little slower progress than normal lately. Finally got the firewall fitted into place, finished welding up the top of the wire channel, cut the trans cover out and put in a high hump, put the cab on the frame (temporarily) and that's pretty much it. I have to move shops since the building I am currently in is selling. The new spot I'm going to has significantly less room but it'll do! Some pictures.
The death wheel caught a piece of the carpet cutting out the low hump and the disc exploded upon impact. No guard too  Don't mind the mess. http://i.imgur.com/a2EcVon.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fz1I3If.jpg http://i.imgur.com/996e1hF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/L32rRQ3.jpg Had to slap the rest of the body panels on just to get a wiff of the final product. http://i.imgur.com/DcERvR3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PIMuFcJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TFeZU7e.jpg My two trucks, one went up the other not so much… http://i.imgur.com/gHb9XO8.jpg Moving all my crap this weekend, some more welding on the cab tuesday. Maybe do some break lines or something next weekend. Who knows. |
Re: C10 Goldilocks
Lookin' so good. I like the mockup, it helps with inspiration.
(Word to the wise, I would edit your post to remove the stickers for sale or else the thread will get locked real quick since you're not a premium member.) |

Re: C10 Goldilocks
I need to go through all my photos and update you guys with some goodies!
I've been working, getting it done. Had a lull for a month or two but the firewall got finished, I shaved and seam sealed up everything including the AC and heat holes, got a driveshaft, figured out why my motor wouldn't turn, new 3.73 gears, did the rear brake lines, mounted the cab, started setting up the air ride, made some bed mount brackets, got a radiator from RnD (thanks sparky!), put in the porterbuilt gas assisted hood hinges... all the little things you didn't think would slow you down. I did however manage to get sponsored by Air Lift which is amazing. The truck will be running full 3H management, dual Viar 444c compressors, 5 gallon seamless tank (had it powder coated black) and SMC Water traps. Hoping to have that done within a week. Been waking up at 5am to get some extra time in on the truck. My goal is driving it in a month or so. Actually let me rephrase that, I WILL be driving it in a month or so... http://i.imgur.com/LdoP71p.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KZvmLX5.jpg When I have some time to come up for some air I'll add more photos for you guys. |
Re: C10 Goldilocks
An awesome build for sure, love the mock up also. I have had my cab and bed off and on numerous times checking fit and seeing how things look. :chevy:

Had the exhaust done with 2.5" and flowmaster 10s. Sounds great. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4431/3...69771deb_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4514/3...97ea1bd7_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4494/2...342180d6_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4447/3...744a0feb_b.jpg Trailerd it down to Maryland for a weekend car show with my buddies. Got to drag my frame down the costal highway which felt like a million bucks after all the hard work I put into it. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4504/3...ca8a4910_b.jpg Some exhaust clips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttAnt-39Bl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMMSGDdUV60 https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4452/3...f2d27e59_b.jpg |

Just went through this whole thread. Loving it so far. Great looking truck. The gold and white patina is awesome looking sitting on the ground.

Re: C10 Goldilocks
Haven't done much of anything to the truck in the last few months, just been cruising it. The overheating issue was just a big air pocket, bled and burped the system and it's ice cold now. In this New England fall weather I'm not even needing to use my fan.
Going to take it out to shoot some photos of it later today but then it's back into the garage. Finally going to put the hood on and make some bed mounts. I need to see if the hood will clear the engine covers. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4443/3...8424e7fb_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4530/3...68b6352e_b.jpg Bought a wilwood MC yesterday with the good deals AZ pro had going on, going to go with manual brakes. I don't like the gushy pedal that the booster is giving me. Gonna pull the motor and redo the body work on the firewall and likely paint it gold, BTR stage 4 cam, paint the engine black, maybe some new heads, put the height sensors on the air ride. A lot of work to do. |

Re: C10 Goldilocks
Tore the truck apart - making things a little tidier. First up was putting the floor back in the bed. Holy crap was this a lot of work. Capped off some 1.5" eighth wall box tubing with a plate with a hole and a grade 8 nut welded on the inside, built the frame around that, put plates on the ends with two holes to bolt to the bed side then painted it with chassis paint. The frame I built bolts into the stock location using half inch bolts - worked like a charm. The extra brace in the front is for the exhaust hangers to bolt to. Then I recessed the under side of the floor so it would fit snug on the frame, pressure washed and then undercoated it and flopped it in. The wheel tubs got cut down and patched up, undercoated as well and then I did a vinegar/hydrogen peroxide/salt mixture to make them rust a little. Color matches the carriage bolts and viola. A tip for anyone doing this... it's way easier to take one side of the bed off to get the floor in than it is to try to shoe horn the thing into place. It takes a few minutes longer but is so much easier.
Just need to cut the hole for the flush mount fuel filler and it'll be done. Now it's onto the fire wall. There are a few holes I want to shave and then give my best shot at actual body work instead of a tube of seam sealer and spray paint. I have an April 31st deadline for a show, a lot more work to do. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4619/2...45a49745_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4611/4...e5f4562c_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4647/2...b618de9c_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4762/3...4595d91d_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4701/2...a20bbed3_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4742/2...c878ded9_b.jpg |
Re: C10 Goldilocks
Nice to see an update. The raised steel floor looks great! Did you have to cut the lip off the edge of the steel floor to get it to slide up between the bedsides like that? When I did mine, I ended up moving the mounting flange up the sides of the bedsides like they are connected stock because I thought the bed floor wouldn't fit and I didn't want to cut off that lip. I'm thinking now maybe I could have done it this way afterall.
