Many people prefer the station wagon style lift/tail gate. It does give you an unobstructed view out the rear glass even if you have to climb or reach over the tailgate to put something in the back. They are definitely prone to rusting and decent replacements are scarce. Because of all the curve metal of the inside section they are hard to repair.

Barn doors are more utilitarian and functional and less prone to rusting although most seem beat to death from carelessness.

Reading your several posts on this Burb looks like you are basically trying to decide if this is worth buying to flip or part out, yes?

cg yes-----these are very unusual here in northern wis. As of now every older hot rodder I talked to said yes a VERY limited market here----maybe different elsewhere. truck is excessively rusty underneath----floors- braces ect GONE I recently had a 55 cameo after 1.5 years of trying to find parts I sold it ----sometimes they just arent worth it

Production numbers for Chevrolet are here. GMC numbers are unknown but certainly a lot less.

Many parts and issues interchange with trucks of the era.

There is a market for them. Some really nice ones have sold for over $40k. Rusty ones, not so much.
