383 FIRST START UP - Please be the judge...

Guys, first of all I couldn't have gotten this far without this forum; great site to say the least!

Ok: I got to the point where I could start the break in of the cam(2000-2500 RPM for 30 minutes), got it broken in but I thought I heard a miss, can you hear anything? Everything seems to be working fine and as far as I know the Oil press, temp, voltage, and RPM are Ok.

Gen II GM Block
Delphi roller lifters
110 Degree Howard CAM flat tappet
10cc Forged Pistons
MSD HEI Dist. w/Rev Limiter built into Ign. Module.

Things I noticed:
15 PSI @ 500 RPM
45 PSI @ 2000 RPM
Rough Idle? It idled 100 RPM more when the stock ign. module was there.

Can you guys give me a 2nd opinion? Listen to the engine first, just audio then check out the gauges on video...

Thanks!!

I feel likethat sounds about right? Maybe turn the idle up a tick?

Thanks! It's running with open headers so maybe that's why I hear a tiny tapping...do you know of its better to detect a miss with or without the mufflers being hooked up?

What do you have the rev limiter set to? Will it rev up past 2600rpm? It sounds to me like the rev limiter may be kicking in at 2600rpm when you bring it up, but it is hard to tell with the open headers in the video.

Trust me it will go past and stall at 5000 RPM. Rev limiter is set to 5000 but I never did let it go passed 2600. Some of the rev'n and idling towards the end of the video was me trying to get the engine to die at idle but it never did.

Ok then it was probably just the headers popping that I heard. I wouldn't worry about it then.

That will do it.

You say you have roller lifters but then you say you have a flat tappet cam. Which one is it? Or did you mean roller rockers?

Also, 15 psi is a little low for a new engine, even at idle. Did you replace the bearings yourself or is this a crate engine?

Sorry for getting to this a little late...my apologies I have a Hyd. Roller Cam from Howards part# 180265-10 with Delphi roller lifters and CompCam roller rockers. This is a 383 crate engine from Skip White Performance rated at 420Hp. I will take it to get tuned once I get the truck on the road, still doing some custom body work at the front fenders; made custom inner fenders from OEM fenders (cut a raised 3") instead of purchasing slosh tubz, they are coming out great!
